Reporting a large gathering indoors

Does anyone have experience of reporting a breach of the coronavirus rules and it being followed up? Is the reporter's name made known to the offender?

I would have thought data protection rules prevented them from saying who it was.
But you could see a policeman arriving and saying "we've had a complaint from a neighbour" which might give the game away.

If you're happy to report people for the greater good then surely you won't care that they know it was you? If it's anonymous then you won't be able to receive your medal?

My local police force has an online form that you can fill in anonomously. I know because a neighbour was planning a party for 70 people in the summer and when some of my other neighbours became aware, they looked into reporting him. We stayed out of it because we had already had a run in with the neighbour planning the party and we were worried that he would become violent. Party never went ahead though because it pissed it down.

Your local police force should have an online form or you can call 101. You can report anonymously. Be aware that they're unlikely to attend. I work in GMP and were receiving very high volumes of calls and we're not making it to many calls. They just get a letter reminding them of the regulations.
