Christmas nights out with friends

Obviously outside, eating a scotch egg with your cocktail etc etc.🤣. Are people planning a few sociable gatherings or not bothering this year? Just curious.

Not really bothering. We have a few zoom christmas activities planned and will do some chritmassy walks with friends but the idea of sitting outside in the cold and rain, even in pubs with an outdoor cover, isn't that appealing especially as we have a young baby. We will plan lots of things when it is better next year.

No I won't be either! I normally would do a few nights out of some drinks. It is a shame but there is always next year. 3 weeks til Christmas and that will be a lovely 5 day stretch with some family.

I'm in tier 3 so no where is open to go even if I wanted to! I wonder if lots of people will be the same as there's a significant % of the country in tier 3.

I’m in tier 2 so lots of places seem to be making their outside areas Christmassy plus heat and overhead covers. I would normally be out a few times in the lead up to Xmas but I’m feeling a bit nervous about it tbh!

Not bothering this year either, we’ve all meet in summer when it’s safer and warmer. Plan to save the money we would usually spend in the run up and treat ourselves and DC instead.

Nope. My income has been reduced by about 80% as my industry been decimated and I’m working in a completely different sector for minimum wage. Christmas can Do One this year.

I thought the further North you got the less people wore for a night out. At least that's my memory of nights out in Liverpool, fucking freezing and everyone in miniskirts.

Yes we have a couple of outdoor get togethers planned at our local restaurants/ pubs. they are working so hard to make money in what should be their most profitable time of year and I would like them to be around when all this is over so am happy to go out and support them. They have installed shelter/heaters so I will be putting on my big coat and trying to have as nicer time as possible sitting outside in December!

We're Tier 3 so no gatherings with friends....I might have been tempted at a nice pub outside with patio heaters and blankets but I'm 42 and heavily pregnant so no desire to go and walk round a park at night.

You can’t get a table in London’s decent outside bars/ restaurants for love nor money. I suspect a lot of people are bracing the elements and doing Xmas meet up’s

We will do one meet up with family friends outside to exchange gifts but everyone else we’re just waiting to see them.

Ah I meant County rather than Country. But makes sense that your town may have low figures but not the county overall..
We are tier 3 too but cases have been coming down quite quickly and was hoping to be in tier 2 when we get around the 100 mark but guessing maybe not now!

Yes sorry, my poor reading .
Our cases have been consistently low... we were tier 1 entering lockdown and have even fewer cases now than we did then. But the new ‘broad strokes’ approach means our pubs and restaurants have had to close (and some have already said they will never reopen) for the sake of 4 cases in the past 7 days.

Might meet for a walk in the day, but want to do that with family so probably can't even do that, in truth.

Will video call some people we would have met up with, and maybe go and drop a cake on their doorstep or something - but over Novemeber to March generally, not the "5 days of Christmas"
