I have a booking. I doubt it’ll go ahead, but booked when the slots were released just in case.

Same for panto. I have tickets, and am watching and waiting to see if it will go ahead.

Tickets for Santa train. I'm hopeful. It's a private compartment.

God no, its one year. We can manage without it for one year!

Yes for the first weekend in December and to see a Christmas light display just after Christmas. I doubt we will be going. I know I will get a refund as both these places have already issued refunds to people who’ve had it cancelled due to current lockdown. I’m not bothered about seeing extended family over Christmas.... I’m a nurse so I’m working over Christmas anyway. But I’m gutted the other events will be canceled as it was something nice I could do with the kids since I won’t be spending Christmas with them 😔

Will you not have any days off over Christmas? Surely you won't be working every day?

I am a midwife (working xmas day) but definitely happy to forgo santa trips, I really don't fancy risking giving santa covid! I am recovering from it now and wouldn't wish it on anyone!

Yes but it is all outdoors. It is still opening at the moment during lockdown so I think it will go ahead at the end of December even if it’s with additional changes.

We haven’t told the kids though in case we don’t end up going. Even if it does open there’s still a chance one of the kids could be sent home from school to isolate before then.

We’ve booked for Christmas Eve but I am happy for it to not go ahead this year so we’re just waiting and seeing. Also booked in for a light show on the last day of school which should go ahead if the lockdown isn’t extended.

Yes, we go to the same one every year and my son is almost 10 and it's likely that be the last year we get away with it....

We’ve booked several Santa’s grottoes, an outdoor Christmas train (50:50 likelihood I’d estimate), a children’s puppet show (vanishingly unlikely to happen now, which is a shame as it’s DD’s birthday) and a light show at an RHS garden (looking the most promising of those to actually go ahead) - basically anything that was available we’ve booked. They’re all fully refundable if cancelled - one already has been, as we’d booked for the end of November.

Most of my friends with small children have done the same (we’ve actually been fairly restrained by most people’s standards) - tickets for most of these events sold out within hours of going online.

We have a booking for “breakfast with Santa” at a garden centre cafe - assume that the garden centre will be open but the cafe isn’t currently so not sure whether it will go ahead or not

We've booked two Santa visits, plus two Christmas theatre shows. Not all that optimistic about them going ahead, but if they don't then we'll get a refund. Everything sells out quickly as capacity is so limited, so I've just booked for whatever I can.

Yes, Santa, lights etc. Pretty sure they won’t happen but I’d be pretty cross with myself if they did happen and we couldn’t get a slot. If it’s cancelled they can just keep the money, I feel enormously sorry for local small businesses that have poured time, effort and money into a covid safe and distanced Christmas event only to be shut down by lockdown.

We have a drive thru santa booked Grin. We also have other Christmas events booked. Elves coming to our garden, chester zoo lanterns and another lights event. I expect they will all be okay unless full lockdown.

We’ve got two booked. We did have Piglets in York but that’s been cancelled. I think others might follow sadly. We’ve also had our Dunham Massey Christmas lights tickets cancelled as we were booked to go next week. They are being moved to January or next year as we choose.

And PP, I do get it. I don’t see outdoor Santa a huge risk. They aren’t going to be sat on his knee. They’ll be well over 2m apart. And the events themselves are running on 30/40% capacity to reduce numbers. That said, many will be in makeshift huts so potentially why they’ll be cancelled as ‘indoors’. And Santa is in the high risk category.

We’ve got Lotherton Christmas Experience & Christmas Walk booked - I think the walk will go ahead as it’s a stroll around their beautiful grounds & woods. Ticketed to limit numbers. & we’ve got Stockeld Country Park in Weatherby booked as well. Again Santa & a enchanted woodland walk. We did the Halloween experience at Stockeld in October & it was brilliant. Very low numbers, felt almost empty. The kids play parks were closed every hour on rotation to be cleaned. There were staff hanging off cargo nets to clean each bit of rope. And anything kids touched was being cleaned constantly such as their outdoor instruments.

Anything to help make this year normal for my kiddos. 😊

We have a drive thru santa booked. We don't even get out. A friend has a Christmas train booked where each family has their own carriage.

We're not planning to meet up with family this Christmas, as don't want to give anyone covid.

No. I haven't booked anything since all this started and am spending a lot of time going Confused at people who do book things and then are upset and cross when they don't go ahead.

Starkidz if you're in the North West- highly recommended! We had them last year. They do make a right mess though Grin.

I didn't book any this year because where I live they're all insanely expensive (it's ridiculous really) and I thought it was very likely to get cancelled so didn't bother. My daughter is happy enough with their santa at school so wouldn't mind anyhow and my other one is two so doesn't have a clue !

You are right I am not working everyday over Christmas, I have the 28th and 29th so that will be our Christmas, although I won’t make the kids wait till then to open their presents.
No one wants to give Santa COVID or anyone else for that matter. Hence I had booked a visit that I believed was safe virtually outside in a large open sided barn, one family at a time max 2 adults wearing masks, no queuing, wait in you car until your time slot, no one can get closer than 2m from Santa (even before Covid kids didn’t sit on his lap they placed little logs for kids to sit on instead).
