So when do we (in England) get told the next 'thing'?

Update on 1st December 3 hours late? I just want to know! Yes I'm stomping my feet.

Do I buy any Christmas food to stock the freezer with? Is it just me and dh? Will I see my brother home from uni at my mum's or will he be stuck up there until eternity? Can I still see my mum? Will the inlaws be able to come down, will we see (shock horror) both our families so we don't actually have to choose? Shock And which days?

I know this is all of us. I dont care what they say, just say it bojo. 😑

Just me? I need to plan something!!!

I think they need to wait to see how the numbers change ver the next week or two meaning it is difficult for them to say right now.

We're meant to be getting an update on Monday.

They need to wait at least another week to see where the numbers are heading and then they will make a decision for the entire UK- any regional variations would cause uproar.

I'm working on the theory that it will be just us at home and planning accordingly. Luckily it won't have a massive impact on us although I do genuinely feel for those it does.
Even if they relax the rules a little, a full house is not going to be legally on the cards. Fully expect to be watching my GCs opening their gifts by FaceTime. Hopefully it will be worthwhile in the long run.

Ignore me. I think there was an update on Monday by Matt Hancock (guess I missed it), so I'm not sure if there's another one coming soon.

Honestly, do whatever you like and use your own common sense.
Whatever the "rules" are, they will end up discounting a whole load of people who will just end up floating around in limbo - scared stiff of breaking the rules and then being made an example of.
My family is an unusual set up. I know we will fall into the grey area so I'll be doing what's right for us and Boris and his band of Merry fuckwits can go fuck themselves.

I hate not knowing. I don't particulalry want to see wider family. But I hate this pattern of not knowing what is happening/whats open/what the rules are/if schools will shut.

My daughter wants to know if she can go to an ice cream shop for her birthday or if she can meet up with a friend to play in the park . ..

I m a planner and it’s awful being a planner with no plans I always have stuff planned out about 18 months in advance. What the rules will or won’t be for Christmas Day has no impact on us as we will just be the 4 of us at home as always but I want to know if we can do our planned festive days out, our festive break, our new year break and if we ll be able to see my mum for a weekend in December. I could cope if the answer to all of the above is no but i just want to know one way or the other so I can plan some fun stuff at home and also let the kids know what we are doing!

The noises seem to be that there will be restrictions of some kind after the 2nd as the numbers are still far too high, so not back to normal. I suspect no households mixing until 24th and then relaxation of this for a few days over the Christmas bank holiday then back to tiered restrictions again.

I think they said they need to wait until the weekend at least to see how the numbers are doing.

I think if they are planning for all university students to travel 3-9 Dec then that is already a relaxation of current lockdown restrictions under which you can only travel for work, education, medical need, emergency, reasonable exercise etc. Travelling home for Christmas is not currently in those exemptions. So from 3 Dec something will need to change by law (as the current lockdown has been implemented in law).
