Covid

Have you cancelled the cleaner if DC is self isolating?

DC's year was sent home from school and they all have to self isolate. I know what the rules are but I am interested in what people do in practice. When your DC have been sent home, have you cancelled the cleaner?

We re-furloughed our cleaner at the start of lockdown.

Don't they have to be your employee for that?

Yes cancelled after the third period of DC having to self isolate. I told her not to come back until the new year. Obviously still paying her.

Yes, cancelled and paid.
Having seen Covid up close, I don't want to endanger her health and her ability to work to support herself.

I don’t have a cleaner but I think it goes without saying that you would have to cancel...

It’s unfair for your cleaner to come round and clean your possibly COVID ridden home...

I’m not trying to be rude and I’m normally the last person to bash people - or judge, but surely you understand isolation means isolating yourself and your family from everyone else.

Yes of course! I cancelled but paid her still.

Our previous cleaner was self employed but this one likes to go "through the books".

Hasn't happened to us yet but I would cancel the cleaner and still pay.

Probably worked out well for them to do it that way with Covid? Good for them if so.

We cancelled and paid our cleaner in the last lockdown. She has come once during this lockdown and the other week we cancelled and paid.

I don't like her to have to travel on public transport to get here and I work in a hospital so worried we would put her at risk.

Of course you have to cancel her.

No one is allowed to visit the house if someone is self isolating.

Works out well for us too, my husband has his own company so gets the furlough payments back from the goverment.

I wasn't comfortable with her coming in during lockdown, but obviously she needs to live.
