I wonder if they will close the schools and reopen restaurants and shops for the Christmas economy.

I hope so for the sake of the sector but not at the expense of schools!!

I think restaurants and sit down meal pubs should open but the Range and the like should be ordered to shut, they have cashed in enough.

The school situation is becoming untenable and dc are some of them very worried and feel expendable.

Teachers feel like sitting ducks.... Dc are dropping like dominoes.
I'd be very happy if school closed and went on line or did blending learning...

I work for a very large chain in the leisure industry
I really hope not , I really hate my job and am thinking of ways to go sick as soon as they reopen the thought of me actually going back is making me mentally unwell
Unfortunately though I think they will reopen

I think potentially in some areas if we do go back to a tier system. With restrictions on alcohol sales, opening hours, etc.

No, sorry. Maybe outside.

I don’t support lockdown btw, this is how I think they will do things, not how I think they should.

What about hotels and air b&bs etc?

If they announce that schools are shutting and pubs are opening there would be uproar.

Whatever they do, they need to stop pretending everything is ok in schools. In Hull, 1 in 4 children are absent from school currently. The government has had so long to work this out and the longer it goes on, the more it looks like they don't give a shit about teachers or children. As ever, it is the more deprived areas that are most severely impacted.

Possibly. I think they’ll close the schools until January and move to online learning.

I'm very sceptical that they will reopen. I think they should, in order to save the sector.

I can see a Tier 3 level of reopening for a larger number of regions. The rates in the north west have been coming down so it looks like those restrictions were working but were taking time to show up. I just hope gyms/leisure centres can reopen or my fitness will be screwed by Christmas.

Schools might finish a bit earlier for the end of term, ideally once mock exams have been completed.

Our school has closed for certain years until the 26th. I've got 2 children at home.

I honestly think they will shut the schools and open the entertainment sector for Christmas...that's one way to boost the economy.

Sorry to hear it’s making you unwell but you really need to think long term , if these places don’t reopen very soon then it’s very unlikely they’d ever reopen again or quickly go out of business.

Well if the UK follows France, as they have done quite regularly, it’s been suggested there that cafes and restaurants won’t open at the start of December and in fact the 15th January 2021 is being floated around as the next possible opening date!

@DramaLlama12 have you spent this time updating your CV, and looking for another job? I certainly hope so as your plan is a liberty...

I hope so, I work in the industry so I'm on furlough again being paid much less than 80% of what I usually earn.
I want to be able to meet my friends and take my son out for a nice meal.

Recent research in papers today indicates that the lockdown of children has taken 3 months off their lifespan...

Why is it a liberty ? . It’s not like I get sick pay and having a jolly up in the pub , I have to go back as I have a mortgage but want to go off for a couple weeks when it reopens to mentally prepare myself for the shit I have to put up with
That place makes me ill and the thought of going back is making me mentally unwell
Yes I’ve updated my cv but at the moment any job is hard to come by
There is a plan long term
Fucking hell
