Covid

Were you checked up on when self isolating?

Just curious really. I'm self isolating due to positive test, fully intend to carry on, WFH anyway so not finding it too bad.

Read a lot on the news though about 'spot checks', receiving calls to make sure, fines, police knocking on doors etc...

Has anyone actually had this happen when self isolating? I've not heard anything but worry because I have no phone signal at home other than in one awkward spot upstairs! What happens if I miss a call? Confused

Makes me worry that I'm missing them or something?!

What happens if you miss one though? I literally don't get calls come through to my phone in the house unless I'm in one spot 🤦‍♀️😂

I’ve had calls throughout but the calls are positioned from a ‘care’ POV. They read a statement at the end of the calls that is a reminder of your legal responsibilities.

I'm confused as to how it even works tbh. How are they even supposed to know if you're in your living room or just answering the call from your local Tesco? Hmm

I read about the police doing spot checks knocking on doors which makes more sense.

I got text reminders to tell me to continue to continue to isolate and to give me information about what to do if symptoms got worse.

What did they say?

I've not had anything, which seems not normal now I'm reading these.

I just finished my isolation following a positive test today.

Aside from the online form for contact tracing (I had no one to add to it!), Test & Trace have not contacted me at all!

I got the standard text messages that posters above mention, but yes definitely no phone calls.

A relative of mine has been self-isolating and she's received no calls, although she gets a text/email every day (not sure which) reminding her to stay at home and telling her it's a £10K fine if she doesn't.

However, she has a summer house in her garden so if they called her landline, there's a fair chance she wouldn't answer it.

If you miss a call they leave a VM there’s no facility to call them back. Definitely no police knocking on the door.

I had several annoying phone calls from T and T. All reading from the same script.

SO many calls! Checking you're ok as well as you know to behave yourself. They ask you what your 'plan' is Hmm. I didn't really know what to say to that!

Oh yes I did laugh at 'what is your plan?' I think I answered 'err, I think I'll just stay in'

Plan??? 😂 Is that a trick question?

Well I was planning a trip to the shops and then might stop by the beach on the way home.

Or I'll just stay home? 😂

I don't think Boris will know what to say when they ask him that!

So many calls. Texting and phoning mobile every day. Phoning house phone almost every day. People 'caringly' reading from a script. I repeatedly asked them to put a note on our files to STOP!

DH and I were constantly called because DC tested positive. The thing was that we then tested positive (both of us) 2 days later and were really poorly. I told EVERY SINGLE PERSON that called - I have Covid. I've tested positive. I'm not going out. I feel really ill - please put a note onto track and trace to stop calling us repeatedly. I'm sure it's lovely if you're on your own, feeling ok and lonely. It's not for us. It's disruptive, we feel ill and we're not going anywhere and the constant phone calls - where the caller is then surprised to discover we actually have Covid - are not helping.

We just disconnected house phone in the end and turned mobiles to silent.

We keep hearing that the track and trace thing is terrible and doesn’t contact people quick enough, so why don’t they spend more time doing the tracking stuff over bothering people like this?!

It just seems a bit pointless. I was under the impression that it was to 'check' you were isolating. But really, what do these pestering calls actually achieve? Essentially it's reliant on people isolating when they should because anyone not doing will just say 'yeah I'm at home, no I'm not going to go out, yeah I'm fine, thanks bye'.

I think they are probably to sign post you to any help you may need for shopping etc as well as checking up on you. But considering they called my mobile I could have been anywhere.
Also once I had told them I was fine, understood I couldn't go out and was having my shopping delivered etc I could have done without having that same conversation every other day.
