Lockdown.

I personally believe lockdown will continue into January 2021, until the vaccine is available for distribution. Once the government start the vaccination programme - the country will have a different system and restrictions will start to lift slowly.

No way still in lockdown. Will want people to spend.

Back to tiers including a more restrictive tier, tier 4. We might not be in the same tiers as before though. It will depend on how well your area is doing.

Hoping for SOMETHING to happen for secondary schools.

Please, wake up DfE and bloody do something!

Tiers, but more restrictive than before, many areas effectively just in lockdown rebranded.

I think all the shops will be allowed to reopen but pubs will remain closed to avoid Christmas/New Year hug fests

A week's extension to the current lockdown 'til the 9th Dec, then shops open but no hospitality, then either another lockdown or another tier level (4,5 etc) introduced which will come into play just after Christmas for most or all of the country so people don't mix over new year, and to safeguard the NHS against the huge increase in cases associated with Christmas boozing and lack of social distancing. Which will last til end of March.

I hope I'm wrong in a way cos it would be grim, but if I was in charge it's what I'd do. So fecking SICK of lockdown though.

Nothing will change.
Maybe 22nd Dec. No way will we be out of lockdown by the 2nd.
I do hope they open what they class as non essential shops though. As long as the shops stick to tighter restrictions hopefully it will be fine but in our area shops were slacking with how many people in the shops at once etc. They've all started again though mind.

Out of Lockdown in order to get spending.

I do wonder if maybe Schools will get an extended Holiday though?, earlier break-up?

Having just been to London where it was really busy despite shops being shut it doesn't at all feel like we are in lockdown. I think they open shops at least. With precautions it's very low risk.
Pubs and restaurants I don't know but think they will open unless they really want the economy to be totally devastated.
If they wait for vaccine we are talking next summer at least for enough of the population to get one so that isn't going to happen.
The thing is many people will do like @userxx and back to square one.

I think theres a plan behind the scenes to keep us in lockdown until January, I'm not a conspiracy theorist in general but just looking at the big picture.
If Boris announced at the beginning of November we would be in lockdown until after xmas, nobody would comply, so a 4 week lockdown with the promise of coming out in december.
I believe he will initially extend it for a further 2 weeks, again to get people complying, we will then be middle of December, at which point he will give a heart felt speech about how numbers are still up and we must stay locked down over the festive period.
After being in lockdown for 6 weeks it's easier to keep going as theres no big change, it's just carrying on.

Unfortunately we as a nation cannot be trusted, we all know people that are flouting the rules as it is, imagine if the pubs reopened for xmas parties... it would be complete chaos.

I can't decide. There will be outrage if lockdown is extended and businesses like hairdressers aren't allowed to trade at what is normally a busy time of year.

Report
userxx · 16/11/2020 06:03

@Waxonwaxoff0 I think the damage has already been done for hairdressers to be honest.

I think it will end and we'll be put into tiers again. I also think they might whip an extended school break for Christmas out of the bag.

I think shops open and not pubs and restaurants. It would be madness to give the green light to people to go out and socialise over the Christmas period. People tend to go out with multiple groups of people with short time periods inbetween.

@Fortyfifty once we are back in the tiers you can't mix with anyone outside of your household in the pubs and restaurants so get them open ASAP I say. The industry is on its arse, it has to open.
