Just checked the government website and looks like it’s being reintroduced. I’m gutted.

Crap. The bit about travelling to school is confusing me. Are we supposed to take dc to school if we are the shielded ones?

I’ve no idea. It was literally just published a few hours ago. I wasn’t shielding last time but my mom was. I had horrendous mental health problems (I’m a nurse) and I’ve been feeling worse as the days go by. I really need to be able to see my mom!

Can I ask if it’s compulsory. If I still want to work am I allowed to or will my employer say no?

I'm bubbled with my mum. She is in her 80s and lives alone and is really lonely this year. I'm single with 3dc so I'm never lonely or even really alone but my mum and I are really close so I hope I'll still be able to bubble although it says to stay 2m from others in your household.
I'm sorry you're having a tough time Thanks I'm a qualified nurse but have changed course while the children are small. I've never been so glad I'm not nursing at the moment. Sounds very selfish I know but I don't want to orphan my ds. It's such a worrying time. I hope you can still see your mum and I think you can for support needs but I'm not fully up to date.

It just seems so pointless if the kids are still at school. I can no more distance from my kids than I can stop breathing, so am being told I am at massive risk, without being able to protect myself. It’s mental torment!!

Just read the guidance as I have family shielding. Looks like shielders can still meet up with another person outside same as everyone else so you can still go for walks with your mum.

Yes Sistema I've been wondering about the the school run. I walk one to school and take the other to a different school by car.

I think it's great,as it actually gives people the choice now with the furlough option: before this it's just not been a really choice for many ECV who can't work from home. And if people want to ignore it,they can,as before.

Thanks. She really wants to continue working and I hope her employer lets her (she works in an office alone)

I am so glad I can still see her - are my two children allowed to see her too? It’s all just such a shit show. No warning, another bomb shell dropped by our government just a week after they said shielding wouldn’t be reintroduced. I’ve honestly had enough!!

I've got a letter saying I'm newly needing to shield. That's quite a shock to me as I wouldn't have thought I needed to.

My DH has immediately said it's ridiculous, I'm no more at risk than yesterday when I happily went out for lunch with friends and shopping (we are tier 1) but it's really shaken me.

@DoYouRememberTheInnMiranda check with your GP surgery that it isn't a mistake. I know they made a few in lockdown 1.

I have just received an email. It says it is not as strict as last time but it does mention shielding Confused

2m away from other members of our household... That sounds really scary for my two under 8s, and I don't really believe it's necessary. And probably pretty damaging to my relationship with their father if refuse to share a bed etc. But I appreciate both of those are better than me dying of COVID. Scary stuff.

The letter came today. I guess I'll give the surgery a ring tomorrow to find out.

Your children can still see her one on one outside as everyone is allowed to meet one other person outside. They couldnt see her together though or when they’re with you.

I'm at work tomorrow, I work for the council. Wonder if I'll be sent home once May manager comes in. Did 20 weeks shielding last time and nearly lost my mind, it wasn't pretty.

Had no text or letter, but definitely on the list of those who need to shield.

Check your emails as I've had it emailed to me tonight.

I got an email tonight. I was expecting it to say just be extra careful but really the only difference from last time seems to be that you can go out for exercise.
Don't go to shops. Don't go in a pharmacy, ask them to deliver. Good luck with that at my GP.

Are asthmatics on the shielding list again? My DP is asthmatic.

I got a letter emailed to me tonight. My mum is in our bubble as she is on her own. I don’t think it mentions anything about bubbles. The letter contradicts itself a bit in places. It still seems odd to me to send such a letter when I have 2 dc’s still attending 2 different schools where there have been a couple of cases in both. According to the letter this is perfectly ok..

No emails, I only got texts and post last time.

Will see what tomorrow brings. Feeling quite emotional about it all.
