We only walked past and fortunately did not enter.
With so many not complying I can see the government having no
choice in doing another lockdown

How do you wear a mask and drink a pint at the same time?

Report
BertieBloopsMum · 02/11/2020 11:32

You don't need to wear a mask if you're drinking or eating.

In fact, it's pretty difficult to do so Hmm

You do know that in a pub/restaurant when sat at the table you don't need to wear a mask?

Or do you expect people to take it off inbetween sips of a drink and a bite of their food Hmm

ThatsHowItStarts · 02/11/2020 11:33

You only need to wear one when going to the toilet or out for a smoke.

You don't need to wear a mask whilst seated. As you would know if you went inside.

Doesn't matter anyway now as all pubs will be shut for a month or longer

I really wish those that moan about people not following the rules actually educate themselves on what the guidance and rules actually are instead of making their own up.

Ive been in them and In my experience Wetherspoons have been really strict and safety conscious with the rules and restrictions. To the extent of having the kind of security you only used to see in nightclubs

This isn’t a serious post, surely.

Totally and utterly this ^^ In fact I think this should be on a sticky at the top of every mumsnet topic!!!

I work in Healthcare. It was just the sheer number of people packed
together in such close quarters that would personally deter me from
entering. You would need say only a couple of hours exposure to just
one infected person in that situation to cause a spread.
I am clear on the guidance re eating/drinking without mask etc
but it seems to ignore large, crowded places

Don't enter then.

So? Pubs are allowed to be open for now, and you don't need a mask just to sit there. Walk on by and move on.

In my local one, which I have frequented recently, they have perspex screens between tables where they can and plenty of space between others. Sanitiser stations. Table ordering. Masks when going to the toilet or outside. Really don't see the issue.

Don't go in then jeez

Report
HairyFloppins · 02/11/2020 11:46

Well they will be shut soon anyway and some probably never reopening.

Surely then your question would be - are they following the law on their permitted capacity at this time?

I don't understand your moan people eating and drinking with no masks on Confused are you maybe uncomfortable with going into pubs so are possibly projecting?

Is this really some snobby post about Wetherspoons? Because the ones I have seen and Shock been into, the tables have been spread out. There certainly weren't people all crammed together like you suggest.

I feel embarrassed for you OP.

I'm beginning to suspect so. There are many problems with wetherspoons pubs but from what I have seen they are one of the chains doing the best with regards to social distancing and minimising potential transmissions.

Great, more people to catch it and provide more with herd immunity.
Daft enough to go, you sort of deserve what you get, not like folk don't know.
