Covid for the 2nd time

I was incredibly ill back in March with what we all thought was Covid. No testing at the time.

This week I’ve just had a positive test, very similar symptoms.

Is there anyone else who thinks they have had it twice? How was the second time for you?

After a weekend of headaches and coughs, I’m feeling a bit brighter, and certainly less ill than I was back in March.

Yes! I had it in April got an antibody test through work (care) just been in isolation due to a positive test end of October (tested weekly)
Just felt a bit coldy really but I’m struggling with fatigue and my asthma is worse also had a few palpitations. Otherwise nothing dramatic for me thankfully.
It is becoming quite common now in the Care Homes having it twice.

If natural immunity lasts 6-12 months, now is exactly the time second cases would start showing up.

Insuffcient evidence on how severe subsequent cases are - there seems (on early reports) to be the full range of more severe, about the same and less severe.

@ilovebagpuss Sorry you are unwell again.
I must admit, I don’t feel quite as ill this time, but I only started with symptoms on Friday. My main issue is a throbbing headache and upper back pain.

Here’s hoping with both have a mild dose the second time around.

@ScottishDream I’m actually over my 14 days now it wasn’t too bad however I did have a migraine that was low level that I had for 4 days even when I woke up at night. Hope you have mild symptoms it does seem that’s the likelihood for most people.
Just get help early if anything feels off.

Last time I had shortness of breath from quite early on. Nothing like that so far this time, hope it stays away as it was the worst and most scary symptom.

sorry to hear about all of you but it would appear that anecdotally if you had it before pretty bad then you'll be much more mildly ill this time. Or perhaps that's a coincidence. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery for all.

@ScottishDream, we've spoken on the other thread, but I'm with you! I had something in April which was terrifying; I was exhausted, struggled to breathe, many of the same symptoms as those on the Covid Lungs threads, and then followed by frequent relapses. No test.
This time, I've had a positive test (which I had to lie to get as have none of the big three symptoms) and my main issue is a banging headache, chest and back pain and an intermittent gurgly cough.
I'm feeling really scared of it worsening though, especially as I have moderate asthma - no matter how many times I read it's not necessarily going to make things worse, I can't help but panic

@SheilaTakeABow have a virtual hand hold. I’m sure we’ll get through this fine. We’ve got t-cell memory and our bodies are busy churning our antibodies as we speak.

Just had a lie-down on my acupressure mat. Horribly spiky but it did give me some relief from the back pain. I’m concentrating on drinking lots, eating well, and keeping warm.

I also have it for the second time unfortunately. It's not quite as bad as in March when I struggled to breathe and had such bad chest pain that I was worried it was a heart attack so fingers crossed I get over it quicker this time.

A lot of people I know thought they had it in December through to May, before they were testing, but didn't have antibodies so I think there were a lot of illnesses similar to covid, and still are

@CanThisBeOverSoon, like pretty much everyone, I wasn't tested first time round, and, TBH, my symptoms were nothing like they are now. That being said, my symptoms were identical to many of the Covid Lungs threads, and the idea of there being another respiratory virus causing so many people to be so ill in such weirdly specific ways is even more terrifying than Covid reinfection

I have just been tested this afternoon as I've been ill since last week and someone I've been in contact with tested positive.

I was ill in April, I struggled to breathe, I was feverish, it was bloody awful.

This time I thought I had a cold. My lungs feel fine. I couldn't taste the grapes I had as a snack yesterday and assumed it was a blabs batch. Now I'm not so sure, we'll see what the results show.

I've lost my appetite, but I've been nibbling various foods and nothing tastes right - even my own saliva tastes off, if that makes sense?

@Sadhoot anecdotally second time round seems to be milder. I don’t think I’d have noticed back in March if I’d lost my sense of taste as I had so much else going on.

My nose/sinuses feel dry and slightly like they’ve been coated in chlorine. I’ve got a mild headache and backache. And I’ve got a loss of smell/taste. That’s about it.

I have exactly the same cough so I have no doubt in my mind that I had it back in March. I was ill for more than two months and it was a horrible time.
The headache is definitely not as bad this time and I'm just so relieved that my breathing hasn't been affected. Chest pain is annoying, like your bra is digging in but again, nowhere near as bad as back in March.
Hope anybody else with it a second time, doesn't suffer as much

@zighead, fingers crossed! Last time my symptoms were totally different, and much more scary. However, I didn't have a positive test last time, which is what is driving my anxiety this time round.
And if it was IT last time too, I'm thoroughly pissed off - have been so careful compared to other people who've not even had it once

Not good. I haven't had covid so far and I am trying to keep it that way. In the beginning of the epidemic I thought it would be good to get it early so I would have immunity. They were talking about those immunity passports and I didn't want to be left out. Now I am happy that I haven't caught it yet.

@XmasLockdown it was miserable as hell the first time, and this time isn’t much fun either. Eat avoided if you can.

I’ve taken some paracetamol and I’m in bed with a hot water bottle. DH has been sleeping on the sofa to avoid germs, but given how much he’s coughing we think he’s got it too. I just hope we all recover quickly.

Just got my result - positive.

Feel very tired and my sinuses are weird. Taste very much affected - I just cracked open a Dr Pepper and it just tastes of artificial sweeteners.

Sinus pain and smell being off is definitely my main symptom this time. Slightly fatigued, the occasional cough. Mostly it’s like a bit of a hangover.

I wish I could go for a nice walk in the sunshine. Our back garden gets the morning sun and it’s all shady now.

How many have it twice that tested positive both times ?
Also to the care home worker who had antibody test is it a recognised one as i had one done in carehome but she told me it wasn't one recognised by the goverment

That's odd because this study shows that immunity should be relatively long-lasting.
