I don't think it should really matter which of your two houses you live in, as long as you choose one for lockdown and stick to it. No moving inbetween the two.

Because my minimum wage, stressful and essential job pays so little i have no choice but to live in a mouldy house share with strangers, so cant even bubble with my partner of 2 years. I cant legally see anyone i know apart from outside at 2m distance and as a young person i am terrified about the future and cant see a day were i will be able to rent, let alone buy my own place. The only thing that will get me and millions of others through winter is an occasional hug from someone i know and if that makes me selfish so be it.

I think its more selfish to expect people on minimum wage essential jobs, to sacrifice not only our health and our futures, but also the bare minimum social interaction because the system means we cant afford to live in anything other then cramped, unsafe housing and so cant even form support bubbles.

Maybe actually think about what some people, who are at very low risk of dying from covid are being asked to do. Its not about wanting other people to die, its about the fact that humans are social animals and need some social interaction from people they know, even if they are young and poor.

... because I live in Manchester and we've been locking down for months anyway, so I don't need to change my behaviour as I haven't caught it yet so obviously I'm immune ... Besides, my kids and partner and mum all want a say in what we are buying, so they all need to come food shopping with me so they can choose what they want ... And wearing a mask properly makes me sweat and get acne ... Oooooh, I fancy that loaf of bread, just let me reach right past you to get it ....

I think we are doing ok for exemptions already. Kids moving between homes, a bubble and allowed to exercise more than once per day. I think we were allowed to drive somewhere safe to exercise too.

We didn't use the exercise one but knowing it was there helped.

Someone looked into the self isolating as well and I think we may have been ok if self isolater had gotten out. We came very very close to having to test that.

But generally stick to the rules as close as possible.

I think this time around there will be lots of emphasis on the difference between "should" and "must" and people will justify things where there is only guidance against, rather than legislation.

I don't think they have thought through the shared accommodation with strangers or living in a tower block.

They did eventually realise that lots of people have to go through a house to access a garden.

There needs to be more understanding of how shit some of it is for the poorest in society. Lockdown in a reasonably sized house with garden is completely different from lockdown in a flat or shared accommodation. ( Reasonably sized includes your three bed semis and houses with enough rooms for each person. )

That's not true though is it? About it being over quicker? The "better" we are at controlling it in the short term, the longer it lasts. The quickest way to get it over would be to let it run, which of course would be a disaster on so many fronts, but don't kid yourself this gets it over quicker.

I think those of us who benefitted from having a garden, are going to find out this winter just how bad it is for everyone else. I will get up in the dark in the morning, WFH during the day in a spare bedroom, and it's getting dark again when I finish, so no sitting outside or doing gardening. I'm really not looking forward to it; and really do sympathise with those who don't have the garden option.

Imagine the threads re they need a birthday party, can’t forgo socialising etc will be forthcoming. Plenty already trying to get around the rule of meeting one person outdoors as they don’t want to give up play dates.

I remember seeing a post on here may have been last week on a thread about local lockdown not mixing households.
Anyway the poster was sympathising that people not seeing family and that she has family from another country visiting. She implied that they didn't quarantine because they lived in a other country seamed to think the quarantine laws were for people who lived in this country. I asked her to clarify but I didn't see if she did .
Posts like this people think they are following the rules but they aren't .
Also I know of 2 people that have tested positive even though they claim they don't go anywhere but 1 caught it off a family member in another city even though in local lockdown so shouldn't mix households. I know people do have many reasons for this but be honest .

Its not just the garden. All i have is a small double bedroom and a shared kitchen/bathroom and I'm lucky compared to some.
