Will hotels be open if travelling for a funeral?

We will be travelling this week to attend the funeral of a very close relative. It's a small family and we are the main relatives so not going is not an option. The funeral is at the opposite end of the country and the earliest we can return is Thurs when the new restrictions will have kicked in.

The problem is we will be travelling with a small baby and the drive is just too long for them to do in one go meaning we'll need to stop. Does anyone know if hotels will be closed? Thinking probably something at a motorway services.

Hotels can open and people will need to stay in them for work.

However because so many people now won't be allowed to travel some hotels may decide it's not viable to stay open.

I would still go, especially as you are checking out within hours /days of the new guidance coming into effect.

If you were a friend of mine Id be encouraging you to take the time you need with your loved ones and not rush back on Thursday rather than eg Sunday because of the rule change.

My father is dying and I will soon be faced with this situation. He is 200 miles away in England and we'll have no choice but to either find a willing hotel (unlikely) or break the law and sleep on a settee in a family member's house.

And I am so sorry for your loss.

I hope you find somewhere to stay. Chain hotels such as Premier or Travelodge may be able to help.
