Lockdown goals?

Hi all,

I know everyone is feeling a bit down. I have plenty of reasons to spiral down negativity and my mental health is rather fragile, so I decided to give myself few goals for this lockdown to keep me in focus through this chaos. I thought some of you might like to share yours too ?

1- potty train my toddler!
2- wean my toddler
3- renovate the bedrooms
4- start writing a book
5- cycle 10 hours combined.
6- Renew wardrobe

Don’t catch Covid at work.
Y11 daughter not to catch Covid at school.
Don’t pass Covid into anyone in our bubble by not seeing anyone at all outside of work.

Pretty much the same as the first lockdown.

Yeah I did read it, but having mental health issues isn’t an excuse.
And no I’m not a sour old woman, I’m in my 20’s and I’m bloody scared about my asthmatic household catching Covid.

Minding her own business talking about some goals that she has then you come along talking shite no one asked for your opinion and nobody cares about your opinion jog on and go spread your negativity somewhere else

In your 20's with a year 11 daughter? People who have to work always resent those who don't over lockdown but being furloughed is not fun. OP is not insensitive she is trying to be positive in a fucking dire situation for everyone.

She could be in her 20’s with a 15 year old?

I'm glad this thread has come up. I am a nurse so will be working as normal but won't be going to the gym to keep fit. My goal is to run up our nearest hill. It's less than 2 miles from our house to the top but it's bloody steep. (It's the cheese rolling hill for those that have heard of it!)

NoIdea1234 · 01/11/2020 02:42

If she was 29 with a 15 year old child, she would have given birth at 14 years old. Definitely possible!?

@OhMyDarling how is the OP insensitive?

@Temporary1234 your plans all sound good- though you’ve only four weeks so maybe weaning AND toilet training are a bit ambitious to do at once. That’s a lot of change for a wee one. Which one do you think they are most ready for? Or which one are you most ready for? Be aware that weaning from breastfeeding can cause a bit of a hormone drop and can be like a depression or low mood/ volatile feeling so that may not be the best option to do cold turkey and while you could struggle. Perhaps cutting down or dropping to a night feed or a bedtime plus morning one only could work?

Also be kind to yourself and get some treats in there for YOU. Cake

I admire threads like this because I’ve become so despondent and numb to it all. One of my goals was to hair dry the icebergs in my freezer. I managed that today and was super proud. Ready to stock up in lockdown food.
I like your renew wardrobe goal! I’ve saved so much by not shopping for clothes and make up but taking pride in your appearance should let stop.
I’m going to try to get out of my pjs more often. Grin

Goals for the next month:

  1. Trying to keep my asthmatic self and diabetic husband safe whilst teaching in a room of 30 people all day and having two dc who are also at school every day.
  2. Trying to care for my elderly Mum without passing anything nasty onto her.
  3. Trying to keep warm in a freezing cold classroom because the only protection we have is open windows (even in the middle of winter).
  4. Trying to help all the little people I teach to ‘catch up’ when we are short staffed and haven’t got enough support to help them do this.
  5. Trying to help parents who are struggling to feed their hungry kids.
  6. Trying to keep up with marking, assessments, planning, report writing, safeguarding reports & home learning for isolating kids when my head is spinning.
  7. Trying to stay calm when stressed out kids, parents or colleagues decide to take things out on me.
  8. Trying not to work on my days off.
  9. Trying to keep smiling for the kids.
  10. Trying to do my best and whatever it takes to get through. Whether you’re staying at home or working - I think this is relevant to everyone x

OP doesn't need an " excuse" to potty train her child Shock

I am a shielder, letting from Govt and so on. I definitely want to avoid COVID. but yes I am still thinking about goals I can achieve to keep me sane. It's good for mental health.

I certainly wouldn't resent anyone else doing what they need to do either.

Bashing other people won't make our problems go away.

@OhMyDarling very confused as to why you bothered posting on this thread? Why are you trying to competitively one-up the OP in hardship? Confused

You are the insensitive one. OP has done nothing to warrant giving you “the rage”, you’re just taking your own issues out on her. You’re judging the OP for trying to save her mental health in the midst of a pandemic and setting goals - what is wrong with that? Nasty. Not being funny but your own life choices are fairly precarious, would probably be for the best to stop judging others for theirs.
