I've just woke up and read we may be heading for a National lockdown

I think I must have been living under a rock the last few days as this is the first I've heard of it.

I've tried not to read the news too much as it just worries me.

I'm really in a panic now. How will we all get through a winter lockdown? The summer one was bad enough but at least we had the sun and bright days.

I was so happy to have my job back, my company will not survive another full lockdown.

If the school close I feel that will be disastrous. My dc have loved being back and have literally skipped into school every day since September. I really hope the schools will stay open.

How the hell can I organize Christmas like this!

I can feel myself getting really stressed out and worried about everything.

I can't believe I couldn't see this coming sooner!

We don't know any details yet so please don't panic.

The theory is this will.be for 4 weeks and them it will be lifted in early December. Schools will stay open. We don't know whether non essential shops will close (probably will) or whether organised sport. will still be allowed.

The government knows people are going to break all the rules over Christmas so by forcing us into near isolation in November it reduces the risks in December.

The numbers are very bad and set to get worse. Hopefully this will act as a circuit breaker but people will need to comply

It's a sad indictment of UK media that this is the first time you've caught wind of it.

It should have happened 3 weeks ago, as it is, we're roughly where we were at the last peak and it's going to get worse for another fortnight to 4 weeks after the lock down begins.

Schools won't and shouldn't close.

Primaries won't.
I'm pretty certain that secondaries will only be partially open.
Mine is partially open from next week. Only years 7, 8 & 9 are in. Too many staff and students isolating or sick.
If too many primary staff get ill then they will have to follow suit.

Our secondary sent a letter out a couple of weeks ago saying they would close to some year groups if we went to tier 3, and close completely at tier 4

I am in Wales so currently in lockdown and had no idea how much harder it would be in bad weather. It has been torrential rain all week here and I am losing it trying to keep DS occupied.

It's just going to be so cold, dark and miserable.

I think during the first lockdown we were all in shock and wanted to do whatever we could to control the virus. The sun was out and we thought of new ways to entertain ourselves.

Now we realize it's not going away anytime soon and this is how things will be for a long time. People will refuse to be kept at home. This lockdown will not be as effective as the first.

Yes it will happen - it should have happened weeks ago. I don’t think schools will close though. Can you phone someone for support?

Unfortunately, it’s not debatable at this point. The government have been so useless that it has reached a crisis point. The NHS will be overwhelmed by mid December otherwise - this is based on the scientific facts. See bbc report for example.

Leaked to the press last night!! The papers,TV has been full of this for several weeks,Chris Whitty wanting it, MPs, not. If you say to someone Do Not Panic, the brains registers the word "panic". it is stay calm, means the same. It works for the time everyone is locked away, not mixing, as soon as people start mixing the virus spreads again.When I have been shopping the past few weeks,people wearing masks round their chins (or not at all, including shop assistants, )yesterday in Tesco someone practically in my pocket! Bloke of around 60, no mask, pulled his jumper over his face, coughing his guts up.

We're back in lockdown in Belgium. All Non-essential shops are closed, restaurants and bars were already closed. School has an extra week of holiday, so they'll be back on 15/11. After that, kids until 13years of age can go to school physically, for the others it's virtual again.
Working from is now mandatory again.

You can see one extra person in your house as a 'close contact'. And outside you can meet up with up to 4 people, but respecting social distancing and wearing masks. Kids up to 12y are not counted in these figures.

All non-urgent medical appointments are cancelled.

I’m sick.

I’m also sick of people ignoring the fact that they have to self isolate and instead go out and spread the virus .

It’s not the governments fault, it’s whoever we all know is doing this.

This all sounds very sensible. Unfortunately we’ll probably have a watered down version of this (no schools closed, no extra holiday) and will have worst death rates in Europe again.

You can let the kids sleep in. We did in summer and ate breakfast at 9 even my 2 yr old.
Stock up now on crafty bits, puzzles, games. Go to hobbycraft, the works abd poundland. Get yourself some books, mags and reinstate an afternoon film with a box of smarties each or fruit snacks in a box - make it fun. You'll be fine. And buy a few xmas treats now ready.

That all very much depends on the child Luna! My DS wakes around 5 regardless of the time he goes to bed. He also doesn't like crafts or jigsaws and is extremely active. We manage normally by being out of the house most of the day. Lots of parks, softplays, attractions, play dates etc.

There are other threads where people are calling for a circuit breaker - and it's Labour Party position, so it's not a surprise that it's on the cards.

And yes, they are chucking everything else in the bin so that schools can stay open

I am exactly the same as you had no idea this was coming. I'm sat here sobbing. I can't see how we will survive. It was hard enough over the summer even at 80% my partner was due to go back to work Monday. So we had just started to think all would be ok. That won't happen now. He will without a doubt be laid off.
We are just on the border line of not being entitled to benefits which means we have no support but all the same bills. We can't afford it.
If I hear they are doing this to save Christmas one more time I will scream... What Christmas? We won't be having one here.
I'm literally spiralling and can't see how as a family we will get through. Economy vs health... Both are done for me.

It's so frustrating, why didn't the government start this 3 weeks ago when it was recommended? I heard of this about 11pm when it was announced on the Last Leg! We are in Greater Manchester, we've had restrictions placed on us since July. People are fed up, and not even social distancing anymore.
