The Times is reporting that we are headed for a month long lockdown until Dec 1st.
No details yet...
Why do they always announce things on the drip feed - makes it all even more stressful

After not believing it, I think we will although I think schools will remain open which largely defeats the point.

What ive been expecting tbh...

... The situation is now untenable without one.

Oh well probably lose my job, at least the virus will go away on December 1st though

A few details here, (tweet has photo of front page with article) although the tweet itself is slightly misleading - the actual article says "is considering" and that "a decision has yet to be made."

According to The Times

" Boris Johnson is preparing to introduce national lockdown restrictions from next Wednesday.

The restrictions could see everything except nurseries, schools, universities and non-essential shops close until Dec 1.

PM press conference on Monday. "

Is it for England only?

I wish they would just get on with it. It is the only option at the moment.

And it needs to be more than a week - and to include schools. I feel so sorry for the teachers.

Schools will be open, so lots of pointless about it.

Dawnlassie · 30/10/2020 22:34

Oh that will be fine then. Good thing there is no spread in universites or schools.

Hmm

Ffs. We were locked down in Wales until mid July. Local lockdown all of September which went right into the Welsh Fire Break.

I have not seen another human (except Tesco click and collect man) since August. I know no one in my borough. I cant take anymore Sad

Can they really prosecute parents for not wanting to send their children to school in these circumstances?

Report
Remmy123 · 30/10/2020 22:37

They cannot shut schools etc why are everyone on this site wanting this to happen!!! Ffs

Report
Swingbin · 30/10/2020 22:38

That reads as if non-essential shops are remaining open, last time they closed.

Report
Appuskidu · 30/10/2020 22:38

It’ll be pointless if schools stay open.

Far better to shut everything for a few weeks rather than just pubs/restaurants/non essential shops for 3 months.

Report
the80sweregreat · 30/10/2020 22:39

If schools are staying open then I can't see people abiding by it!

We need lockdown in the north and midlands now, now waiting until Monday.

Apparently it's a devolved matter - so Wales, having done this sooner, can probably reopen.

Report
Velvetpeel · 30/10/2020 22:40

@Swingbin I read it that non-essential shops will close. Who knows though?! It’s disgraceful that the release information through leaks. It doesn’t help anyone and is shit leadership

Uk? Wales, NI and Scotland are devolved in terms of health. Do you mean England?

No point locking down without closing schools.
