I just read that Macron is due to announce another lockdown from this evening. Apparently not as restrictive as the last one but who knows. I had planned on heading to the supermarket anyway but the temptation to "stock up" is strong but I will resist.

I'm in 01 on the border with Switzerland and the Federal Office of Public Health are due to make an announcement today also. I am so done with it all!!

Has anyone heard any rumours about what a second lockdown would look like?

Well it's all just rumours at the moment, but I think it's a foregone conclusion that the rules are going to be ramped up.

I've read a few suggestions that the lockdown will apply to the weekends only with an earlier curfew to prevent people heading off to their second homes before this weekend.

Not much evidence of "stocking up" around these parts - we had no issues with getting food during the first lockdown so I am hoping it will be similar this time around. I have been making sure that we are well supplied with all the basics.

I think Macron is speaking this evening and then his proposals will need to be signed off tomorrow. Most people I know are resigned to another full lockdown so fingers crossed it may be less restrictive this time.

Similar to last time but schools staying open? So everything shut apart from essential shops and schools, and really push for wfh to start again - especially for vulnerable people.

Since the govt can’t restrict household mixing, maybe a lockdown is the only way to slow the rise in infections from that source. We have several very elderly people in our appartement building: last weekend, one of them had at least 6 of their 7 children plus partners and grandchildren round for a birthday party :-/

We're getting prepared today in case there's another lock down and non-essential shops are shut. For us that means DH has gone to the local garden place to get the plants he wants to plant in the garden, some bits from Casto and he's taking some stuff to the déchèterie.
We wanted something from Ikea but it's not in stock at our store so we won't go there today.

Hoping that school stays open (DC are in CP and CM1). The curfew has had no impact on us since we only go out in the evening very rarely - live in the country.

DH is off at LIDL to do our fortnightly big shop: don’t want to miss the chance as we only have really expensive metro supermarkets within walking distance.

I really hope the schools stay open, it makes everything else bearable, that the DC can be educated and keep in touch with friends mask to mask, if not face to face.

I’m just back from Migros and it was like Christmas Eve. I’ve never seen it so full on a Wednesday afternoon. I didn’t see any stockpiling going on so hopefully we won’t see a repeat of last time.

I’m trying to remember what we said we should have done before the last lockdown! We also need to go to the déchèterie but it’s not urgent.

I did the weekly shop at Lidl yesterday and there was no sign of panic buying or stocking up despite the large pallets of their XXL loo roll packs. We are to the west of Paris and had hoped to have two of DD2's (9) classmates over for Halloween gouter. It'll be another disappointment amongst the many this year if we have to cancel.

At least the schools are staying open! DH has been back in the office half time. I guess he’s back home full time now.

Yes, no surprises at all. DH has been working from home two days a week since the rentrée, the past two weeks he's been here three days and yesterday announced that it would be four days.

School is good news for DD2. She really suffered by being isolated in the spring.

Good news that schools are staying open but I really don’t like the return of the attestation for going out.

I’m heading out first thing tomorrow morning to panic buy kindling and firefighters for the fire, streaky bacon, baked beans, crisps, wine and gin. We’ve got good stocks of yeast, flour and compost.

Can anyone tell me if there is choice re school in France please? Are people educating off site threatened with fines or prosecution please?

I haven’t heard anything about a choice @wondersun Others can correct me if I’m wrong but home schooling is against the law so if schools are open you have to send h kids.

It looks as though Macron is planning to ban (or possibly has already banned) homeschooling because of concerns about "Islamic separatism"!
