Checking in- thanks for starting this thread.
I haven’t been posting, but the other 2 threads have given me so much comfort.

Quite impressed actually that we're one the 3rd thread and a couple of posts aside, it's all remained rather civil - can tell we're in a unusual situation can't you? Grin

Also checking in from Teesside, and also dreading the announcement today.

But really loving the warmth and support for all on this thread Flowers

North west Durham here. I’m dreading today’s announcement. It just feels like we’re going back to square one.

I tried to have a normal weekend and I’m considering heading to the Arnison centre to get my eyebrows done this morning. Who knows if that’ll be affected. After the last lockdown I looked like the bin monster from the muppets!

Does anyone know what time the announcement is today?

Good morning from North Tyneside 🍵

I saw something about Doris having a press conference tonight (think it's usually teatime?) so I'm guessing the news outlets will have it mid afternoon 😕

Hmmm. That was supposed to be a mug of hot coffee emoji. Cheers to anyone drinking green soup this morning too though.

Good morning from south west Durham. I’ve mostly been lurking as trying to keep off the internet the last week- it’s not doing me any good. Hugs to anyone who needs one Flowers

Checking in from North Tyneside too. I don't post much but read these threads every day and agree they're very comforting and supportive.

I've felt flat since Sturgeon did her announcement on Weds. It's like waiting for the axe to fall ⛏

Placemarking . DS1 has just crawled out of bed, the breakfast dishes are refusing to wash themselves and it's just started to rain. My tumble dryer will be busy today - first load of pissy laundry almost done.

🤞For everyone on tenterhooks, today.

I'm watching Lorraine who said at the beginning of the show that they would be having a live link to the commons for the PMs announcement so it may be earlier than we think. They seem to do this now. Give all the info in Parliament then repeat it in the evening briefing. 🤷‍♂️

From the south west here but just dropping in to send very un-mumsnetty hugs to you all. Will be keeping everything crossed for the announcements today.

Morning! South northumberland here, school run was very quiet. A lot of glum faces. Now its chucking down which matches the general mood around here. Checked out the cases around my local primary... it stands at 497.6 per 100,000. That was a shock as it's a very small town.

It's all getting rather tedious now. Well I guess I'll put the house right after a weekend of the DC playing, maybe light some scented candles to brighten the place up.

@Shitfuckoh I think it must be a MN record! That's friendly northerners for you though Smile Since moving here 20 years ago I've definitely found that people here are good in a crisis - there's a lot of pulling together when the chips are down. Not long after I moved here I had a huge personal crisis. I hadn't really had a chance to make any friends yet but some of the mums I chatted to when I took DD to school, who I barely knew, heard about what was happening. One or two in particular pretty much saved my life (no exaggeration - I was in a DV situation and they helped me leave and find a place in a refuge, then helped set me up in my new flat when I had absolutely fuck all to my name). So yes, I think this thread is definitely in that spirit.

@FlorentineAz it really does feel like that doesn't it. Except for the fact that the whole country isn't in the same boat this time. It's so strange seeing photos on Facebook of people meeting up for drinks and meals and whatnot and forgetting that elsewhere, they can do this.

@Thelongdarkteatime I know what you mean about avoiding the internet. At the moment it feel like overload every time you look at it and everywhere you look, too. I never thought I'd miss inane 'look at my breakfast' posts on Facebook but here we are. Another weird first in a year full of weird firsts.

Well, I have a dentist's appointment for next Monday! My first proper appointment since July last year. It's not going to be pleasant. They've told me to call back if my broken tooth becomes unbearable. I'm keeping everything crossed that they don't have to close again after whatever happens today 🤞

Thank you Flowers What's it like where you are? I hope you're managing to avoid the Tier 3 bollocks and continue do so for as long as possible.

Please let them not take away support bubbles. Please. I don’t mind the pubs closing, even the DCs’ activities, but I need the support bubble!

I'm thinking level 2. Liverpool have been very clear that they are level 3.

Staying at level 2 is another issue.

Yes I mis heard on Lorraine. She must have said discussion in advance of the PMs announcement. To be honest, she and Dr Hilary have just done a canny job of basically confirming what we are thinking re Tier 3.

I'm off for an xray on my knackered hip in a mo. God help me if they say it needs replacing as it won't be quick - but at least they might give me some decent pain relief!

Apocalyptic rain indeed. I'm off to have a quick read of the "Let's try and keep Christmas special, even though everything is fucked up" thread.
