Looks like England may be following Scotland. Or parts of England? Or new levels to be announced!? Who knows...

It’s looked inevitable for the last few days. The question is how long they’ll try and put it off for and how long. I feel like we might have missed the boat on the 2 week circuit breaker.

Unusually it doesnt seem to be spelt out in advance on social media.

I'm in the north east and the local lockdown here has done absolutely nothing. When it started we were on about 100/100,000 and now we're on about 450/100,000. So tighter restrictions here seem inevitable. I really hope that they're over in good time for Christmas though, particularly if non essential shops have to close.

I am sure they will leak bits and pieces to us over the weekend, and have us guessing and freaking, instead of just telling us straight like we are all adults.

Report
BrokenBrit · 07/10/2020 21:33

Mm wonder if that means the announcement is on Monday or new rules coming into place from Monday?

Report
headtotoe12 · 07/10/2020 21:36

The press are reporting an announcement was meant to happen tomorrow but it's being delayed over then arguing about who can sign off in restrictions

We were supposed to
Go Liverpool for my sons birthday present in 2 weeks. Totally gutted we won’t be going. We’ve been looking forward to it throughout lockdown :(

Pixxie7 · 07/10/2020 22:05

I wish they wouldn’t delay announcements, surely the earlier we know we will be better prepared. I think it will be a short term lockdown to coincide with half term the same as Scotland.

I’m in GM and there is certain to be something for us. But there is a lot of pushback politically because frankly we’ve had local restriction since the end of July and they haven’t worked despite as far as I can tell people broadly following the rules. No way they can get away with shutting businesses unless they can be clear how they will help and put proper financial support in place.

We've been in local lockdown in Manchester since late July. Since then, cases in my borough have risen from around 22 to 225 per 100K. Not sure that increasing the areas under similar restrictions will make the slightest difference in the infection rates.

There will be a speech, but we will hear all about it in the papers first. It will be breaking news about quarter to half past 10 one night and all the papers will report on it the next day (but you can see the front pages from about the same time as the breaking news will occur)

There's been no cases in my town for 8 weeks, I'll be very annoyed if I can't see my parents or go to the pub when we played by the rules collectively here

I just want to know if we can go for a self catering break over half term!
How inconsiderate of Boris to leave me wondering Wink

@Strawberrypancakes

I absolutely don’t give a shit about any new rules... does no one else feel this way? I’m over it.

Economy, cancer, mental health, every other illness!... ffs everyone needs to get over this.

I'm with you. I honestly don't have a fuck left to give about it any more.

@Thedarksideofthemoon30, I’m 50 next month and have cancelled everything planned for this over the last few weeks. I booked a birthday cake for 40 slices in May, changed it to 20 slices in August, and 8 slices ie: now just enough for 2 x dc, DH and I. DM won’t visit now yet dc are back at school.

We’ve already decided we will still go to parents even if no mixing is implemented. Both in low case areas. We are not being isolated again.

They’ve got away with shutting entire industries with no proper financial support in place.
