Covid

How long are everyone’s test results taking?

We are about to go for a family coronavirus test this PM as I’ve developed a cough and sore throat... dreading a potentially long wait Sad

How long is everyone else waiting? Is anyone actually getting results within 48 hours anymore?

Thanks !

I did a home test on Friday and it caught the 5.30pm post. I'm hoping for results tomorrow but not overly hopeful

A friend of mine has been waiting since Wednesday. Has everyone in your family developed symptoms that you’re all going?

Only the family member with symptoms should get tested.

I had mine at 4.30pm Friday afternoon and got a positive test at 9.30am this morning, so that's about 41 hours I think.

Last time it took ten days, so this was a positive!

@battlestargalactica that’s pretty impressive, hope others have same turnaround too.

@Proudpeacock not bad for a home test too. Ok, feeling better about all this now, hopefully kids won’t be off school for too long if we are neg.

Thanks all x

I don't want to be "that person" on a thread but if you are the only one with symptoms, you are the only one who should be getting tested. It may have passed you by but there is a shortage on tests at the moment, it won't help if you're getting one for the sake of it for your children.

I had a home test and it took 5 days for the results to come through.

Thst not how it works.
You get a test as you have a cough.

You dont check kids to be on the safe side as they have a cold. Ppl doing this reduces tests available for thos with actual symptoms!

You should not be taking the whole family if only you have Covid symptoms.

If they have cold symptoms then they don't qualify and is taking away much needed tests from other people

@AvoidingRealHumans yes I see your point, but to be a bit clearer- we think all of us had Covid back in March when no tests were available. Mine was confirmed by paramedics when I developed pneumonia. I’ve not been 100% since but that’s another story. In March/April all family members had slightly different symptoms. Eventually my son went to A and E with his. That’s why I’m concerned this time around we may have it again... kids have colds and yesterday my sons temp was again raised, so I’m afraid I’m not taking any chances and want to get them tested as early as poss to get a reliable result.

You should pay for private tests then, I bet if you had to pay for the NHS tests you wouldn't be having a family trip to the test centre.
You have a cheek when there is a shortage and some key workers are struggling to get tests and others having to travel miles.

We home tested our DD on Thursday 9am collection and still haven’t had the results. Really wish I’d kept trying for a drive through one now. I really don’t want to keep her off school any longer for what is probably a cold. I called the help centre this morning and they are going to escalate it so hopefully we hear back today.

The children shouldn’t be getting tests if they have colds.

Why are people not understanding this??
