And we're back to civil unrest on the streets again with mass protests and violent clashes with police.

Like the lockdown when the pubs were shut.

Warning in case the government shut all the pubs down. Brits/English will tolerate anything until you come after their pubs.

It was hardly civil unrest and absolutely nothing to do with the first weekend of pubs closing earlier!!

That was a not very large protest in London.
They probably ended up in the pub afterwards, certainly lots of them were brandishing beer cans during their little tantrum.

The bigger issue were the pictures of the tubes and streets outside of the hospitality venues last night. Unless better infrastructure is put into place it is clear that closing at 10 will cause more new opportunities for transmission that it eliminates due to the lack of capacity to deal with all pubgoers leaving at the last possible minute (in usual times most pubs and bars will typically see people leave in dribs and drabs from 10pm onwards with few still being on the premises by the point they ask people to leave).

That’s not civil unrest. It’s a protest that was dispersed. And had nothing to do with the pub curfew... I’m pretty sure it was arranged before the new rules were imposed.

People aren’t protesting about the pubs closing early....they are just getting to the pubs earlier And getting an early start!

Pub curfews done not a damn thing here, the local bars (which used to be of a nightclub scenario) all opened at noon yesterday, massive queues outside them to get in, and pissed up people roaming town in groups whilst families still doing their Saturday in town shop - ridiculous

And then at 10pm they pile into supermarkets and off licenses to grab crates full of booze to take back to house parties.

People are just pricks.

I haven't been out for weeks but last night we went out for a family meal in a city known for its anount of pubs.

At 6.30pm there were queues for the pubs. We went for a drink first and had pre booked a table. The pub's attention to detail was second to none I have to say.

At 10pm we left the restaurant. All the pubs poured out and the streets were rammed! I think I saw more drunk people than I've seen in a long time. (I'm 47 and used to go to pubs lots - my mother was a licensee and I was a bar maid) yet what I saw last night concerned me.

It wasn't just the volume, it was how drunk everybody was. The police were out but there were too many people.

Everybody piling out shoulder to shoulder and then heading to the train station.

I don't believe in closing pubs. They need to stagger the closing time as the curfew seems to have created a new problem.

It was a fudge to stop the government having to compensate pubs but being shown to be doing something.

It's a waste of time if you're not going to ban all alcohol sold from 10pm/disperse city centres and disperse house parties.

I’ve seen some videos of our local town on social media, absolutely rammed at 10.15 with people piling out of the Tesco express style supermarkets and basically partying on the streets. Also seen taxi ranks and train stations full of people not social distancing so for me the curfew does more harm than good. At the very least they need to ban supermarkets from selling alcohol after 10pm, it won’t stop the situation completely but it will stop the opportunist ‘lets go to Tesco and carry this on at my house’ type of gathering to an extent.
