Anyone pleased with the winter job support scheme?

I work in hospitality and I am so relieved Rishi Sunak had come up with this package.I willing work c long days but can't if the pubs shut earlier or worse still customers are cautious of eating out again.
I know my difficult DM thinks it is a waste of tax payers money as she never really worked and doesn't understand this is not our fault.
What do Mumsnetters think?

I think capital gains tax is coming for the family home and the forced sales of great estates and ordinary family homes of those who can't find their CG tax. I think everything which can be taxed, will be taxed. And high.

Bluntly, financially, I think we're fucked.

No we are still unable to open or operate and now can’t pay anyone either, never mind the rent! It’s shit we won’t last much longer.

I think it's good for those who could open.
However, for the small number of places that cant become covid secure, there is a gaping hole in the support. I'm thinking mainly live arts and music, but I'm sure there is other stuff.

Yes very happy. I was expecting the current scheme to end with nothing in its place, now my DHs company which struggled initially in lockdown and was saved by the furlough scheme has something to fall back on if times get hard again in winter. We are all very relieved here.

We own a (small) nightclub/live music venue think on the lines of the cavern club but not as famous!
We’ve run it successfully for 12 years..

Selfishly, yes, because I fall into the category that is directly helped by it. I am devastated for the arts industry etc that need help.

I wonder if there’s anything we can do?

It will be interesting to know how many businesses will use it, paying 55% of a salary for 33% of the hours won't be affordable for many.

With the 33% thing, is it a minimum of? For example if they bring someone back for 3/4 of their normal hours then they still ‘only’ pay 55%?

The employer pays the hours that the person works, then also a third of the hours they don't work with another third paid by the Govt and a third "by the employee", so if the employee works 70% of their previous hours the employer pays 80%, Govt 10%. So the employer always pays more than the hours worked but the proportion of hours paid by the employer for not working decreases with increasing hours worked.
