Yes I'm hoping there will be a follow up too to outline any new additional measures shortly.

However, I didn't take another hard lockdown from that briefing personally. I think it was made quite clear that they are also aware of what impact going too far could have on the economy and finding a balance between the two. I'm glad that was acknowledged at least.

The virus hasn’t morphed into a less deadly version.

Keep doing the things you hopefully already are (washing hands, wear masks, social distancing).

The virus spreads in poorly ventilated and crowded indoor areas, except for schools which didn’t get a mention and are therefore immune.

Just on BBC news, there are more women in the 20-40 age range being admitted into hospital than others.

Possible due to more caring/service jobs.

No one mentioned that schools have been back for a while and who is a middle aged mum more likely to get it from, a socially distanced stranger in a mask or a hugged/kissed symptomless child?

They still say that immunity based on antibody studies and ignore that may be T cell immunity as well, think they are not very up to date

I am a rule follower myself, but not wanting to be banned from seeing your mother isn’t being a “whinging, entitled shit”.

Minimising the draconian impact of the restrictions is not helpful. They may be necessary, but doesn’t change the fact they’re awful, and calling people upset about it “entitled shits” is out of order.

I think they’re trying very hard to drive home a message that there is very little immunity in order to try to increase compliance.

Valance did mutter something about other types of immunity. It would be great to see another bigger study on the level of t-cell immunity following the Karolinska Institute one.

The SAGE scientists the BBC interviewed afterwards were very interesting. From them I also got that:

No more local lockdowns/restrictions
Households will most likely be banned from mixing
Limits on hospitality (hopefully not just a stupid 10pm curfew)
By mid October we will all be barricading ourselves into our homes anyway because the virus will be rampant.
Women 20 - 40 are increasingly being hospitalised with Covid, probably because they work in health, social care and Education.

No mention of the Test and Trace - I guess it's not even worth talking about any more, it's that ineffective.
