Why aren't the government being given more credit for prioritising education?

The government have risked a lot by putting schools first, selflessly knowing that a second wave would reflect badly on them. This is how it's turning out, but they're still even now fully committed to keeping schools open.

They could have just had blended learning or even carried on demanding tutoring from home for the the winter term, but they've stuck their necks out by getting every child back to school.

Basically, just a reality check for people who are criticising the government at the moment. They've made big mistakes but the kids are their priority and they deserve credit for that.

They put education first? Is this a wind up... the second wave or whatever you are calling it has little to do with schools opening. For months they have been spouting kids can't spread it. The eat out to help out scheme and pubs being open is probably a bit to blame as are people moving around more freely and going on holiday. This shower of shite though certainly haven't put education first, it was the economy - they have encouraged us all to go out and now are blaming us for it

Because their priority consisted of them:

  1. Saying they were
  2. Putting it out that children aren't much at risk/don't spread it so they don't need to put any social distancing etc in place (ie no extra money)
  3. the priority of schools is transparently about getting people back to work for the economy.

If they really had considered them a priority they'd have put money in place for more safety measures, and cleaning equipment, maybe extra classrooms/teachers to have fewer people in the schools, extra school buses etc.
And when the numbers started clearly going up at the end of August, closing pubs and places like that to try and keep the numbers down.

Selflessly? Are you having a laugh? They're not exposed to 180 adult-sized people per day, in a poorly ventilated classroom and with no screens masks, unless I'm very much mistaken.

They get it in the neck when cases rise.

How have they prioritised education??!

The catch up funding they announced hasn't been paid to schools. They didn't increase testing capacity so teachers and pupils are sitting at home isolating.

Hahahahahahahahahahahah

Sorry but they haven’t given schools more funding to deal with covid. They have given pennies to deal with those left behind - and are cocking up by not giving money to schools.
It’s nonsense.

If you’re going to use the word “selflessly” in a post about this government then I’m afraid no one can take you seriously.

The current testing issues are going to cause serious problems for individuals’ education because they aren’t going to be able to access tests, and will therefore be off school for weeks. Probably multiple times. Tests that Priti Patel said were fine and available just this morning.
The absolutely unbelievable shit show that was the exam results, which was actually entirely predictable and avoidable by anyone with two brain cells to rub together, was not prioritising education at all.

But yes, well done Dominic.
