My son has had sickness and high temp over last 48 hours . His been really lethargic and not wanting to cooperate

Today his now happily playing, cooperating, temp has gone right down to 34.4, sickness has gone and now his eating again

NOTE- HE does have regular high temps about once a month and there's no other symptoms normally but I was told to get him tested so have done . I'm still pretty convinced it's not covid but still I ordered a home test which is due to arrive at some point today.

How effective will it be now?

Is 34.4⁰C a typo? Tests should be done within 5 days of symptoms starting

no why?
so it should still be able to show then on the test whether he has it

34.4 is hypothermia.

34.4⁰C would require medical intervention

I just took mine with an in ear thermometer and its 36.8⁰C which is pretty normal. Your readings are not accurate

Anything below 35 is hypothermia, I’d get another thermometer and check.

As for testing nhs advice is to test within 5 after onset of symptoms.

I was always told you add 1 degree to underarm so that would be 35.7. Thats still low.
Either your thermometer is useless or it's user error.
