Covid

If someone you have seen has to isolate...do you isolate?!

We saw friends on Tuesday and seemingly a boy in one of the dc classes has now tested positive. They have to isolate for 14 days. Do we?! Do I need to take my dc back out of school?

OP posts:

Not unless the person you were in contact with tests positive .

i doubt it,
how close were you?

Report

No. only if you have symptoms or you yourself came into contact with someone positive

We were inside some of the time. We had a play date.

I thought up to 6 inside was ok?!
We’ve bubbled with her anyway because she’s a single parent.

No you don’t have to isolate - my dc had to isolate in the summer due to a positive case at their holiday club and DH and I did not have to isolate as well. We would only have had to isolate if one of our DC had symptoms/a positive test

You're supposed to maintain 2m distancing from non-household members. So a play date is not advised as presumably they don't keep the distance.

However, you don't have to isolate unless your contact tests positive.

But this is an example of precisely why cases are rising again - it illustrates clearly a chain of transmission in operation.

If the guidance on 2m had been observed, the chain would have been broken anyway probably, risk of transmission certainly much lower.

I would have thought no. But since you are a bubble, perhaps yes. It's all as clear as mud. Confused

They are a bubble. So the 2m distance doesn't apply.

@Anyother the op does not mention a bubble? Just friends?

Report
cologne4711 · 10/09/2020 07:28

A friend can be in a bubble with you, it doesn't have to be a family member.

Yes. This is OP under a different name.

Yes I know, but the op didn't mention a bubble?
Report
Danceswithgeckos · 10/09/2020 07:29

Yes we are a bubble. We are close friends who have known each other a long time and she doesn’t live locally to her parents so it made sense.

Report
ChanceChanceChance · 10/09/2020 07:31

Oh, I didn't realise.

Well if you're a bubble I don't know for certain! I think you become one 'household' though surely for these purposes.

People making up their own overly strict version of the rules as usual.

So maybe on that basis we isolate?
Or maybe not if it’s only the dc who have had contact directly have to isolate as in the post above. Heavens knows basically.

The op changed name, so I didn't realise they were a bubble. I don't know the bubble rules, but surely the whole point is they merge.

Why do people have to be so hostile? Covid is making everyone too nasty.
