Yes, 100% this. Seemingly random people given actual fining powers?

Surely it’s good thing as those not complying affect others. No issue if people stick to the rules/guidance. The vulnerable can do more things when SD is adhered too.

Police state. Terrifying.

Well if people are breaking the laws, then Marshall’s should be knocking in their door.

If everyone just followed the rules- wash your hands and most importantly keep 2 metres away from everyone, the virus would die out pretty quickly. It’s people’s (Mostly young people) inability to do this which is causing these new rules.

I don't want to live in a police state thank you and that's the way this is heading.

Next they’ll be ordering us to wear masks in our home and sending marshals door to door. Just you wait and see...

It's like the Benjamin Franklin quote "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety"

Although that's exceptionally dramatic

My next door neighbour will be in his element. He was timing us all when we went out for walks at the start of lockdown. He was trying to impose his own belief that we had to be back in an hour.

They should have the guts to call it what it actually is. The gestapo

Yes, that would be honest.

The PM says: "I'm still hopeful, as I've said before, that in many ways we could be able to get some aspects of our lives back to normal by Christmas."

He says he hopes that people will be able to take "a rapid turnaround test" in the morning and know 15 minutes later whether they are infectious or not.

"That gives you a kind of passport... to mingle with everybody else who is similarly not infectious in a way that is currently impossible," he says, adding that this is what the government is "aiming for".

...

we really are heading for an Orwellian future

This is total and utter bollocks. The most likely place for a vulnerable person has always been in hospital (or a care home, originally, though that's less of a problem now). To get a virus that has spread to millions and millions of people all over the world to 'die out' would require nailing everyone into their homes - the virus would die out because people would die out. Even the strictest lockdown can't completely control a highly infectious illness with inconsistent symptoms that is everywhere in the community, it's just not possible.

I did read an article a while ago where some idiot recommended wearing a mask and socially distancing in your home.

I'm waiting for quarantine 'camps' for want of a better description.

If people didn't ignore the rules it wouldn't be needed.
