Covid

Anyone tested at a drive-through over the weekend?

Have you had your results?

I'm trying hard not to get too frustrated. DD picked up a cold middle of last week (from a friend whose DD had a negative COVID test result the day before). By the weekend I was full of cold and after a horrendously congested night I woke Saturday morning not able to smell or taste anything.

99.9% sure I didn't have COVID but I booked a test because the rules said I had to. Drove 40 miles and over an hour each way for the earliest test, did test at 1pm Sat.

Still no results so despite now feeling fine and no symptoms, I can't go to work and DH can't take DD to her activity. Apparently over 90% of people get their results next day.

Am I just unlucky or do we think there was a big spike in demand over the weekend?

I got tested last week and waited 5 days for results. The test centre was busy.

Yes - tested Sun and results back (negative) this morning. Took three days to get a sensible location for drive through test though.

Tested 10.30 Saturday results 8 am Sunday. I thought at least if they are reducing capacity at test sites that meant the labs could turn them round faster. Sorry it don’t work that way for you x

Took DC yesterday, got results this am - unfortunately they are 'inconclusive', which I assume means they didn't get a big enough sample? So we're off to test again this morning. DC has what is almost certainly a cold, but has now developed a cough with it.

We were told at testing site to chase up if we don't hear in 48 hours.

Yes we did! Tested at 12:30 yesterday, still waiting for results. Annoying as DC can’t go to school!

DD had a test on Saturday PM and we haven't had the result, currently trying to get through on the phone. We must be in the 3% that don't get them the next day! Means no nursery or school and trying to juggle wfh. Sigh.

Tested my 3 year old yesterday at 11.
Results came at 8 this morning.
However I do live in a fairly low risk area. Test centre was very quiet. Trying to book a slot however that was stressful!

Still nothing! I might try and chase once it gets to 48 hours but I can't imagine it'll speed anything up.

I live in an area where the infection rate's low, but because they're prioritising testing in riskier areas I had to drive to one of those!

@BarbaraLighthouse did you have any luck on the phone?

Seems to be a massive variability. Patch, Hotair I'll cry if I have to wait days and days (or murder DH! Our house is too small for self-isolating!).

No you just get through to a call handler and all they could say was that the results weren't available yet. So frustrating and it doesn't encourage people to get tested this winter.

Family member tested at 9am on Friday, results 10am Saturday. We are in a hot spot. Easily got a nearby test & results quick. Maybe we were lucky 🤷🏼‍♀️

We went yesterday at 11.30am and are waiting for results. DS is starting year 10 tomorrow and I'm supposed to be working, but that might not happen now as other DS who has been back in year 6 for two days has been coughing over the weekend

I was surprised at the amount of cars there yesterday, maybe it's taking longer as it's getting busier

Yep on Saturday morning and had results by text same evening (wales)

I wonder why they vary so much. Do keep us posted op.

@Mummyme87 is that true? I really hope so! I share a house with others and was wondering what would happen if they needed a test. I hardly ever see them but we obviously share the same kitchen and bathroom so was not sure.

Negative (unsurprisingly!)

Came in just over an hour ago - so 49 hours post testing.

I do think this will make me more reluctant to get tested in the future, I've just spent £30 on fuel then 2 days indoors, cancelled activities etc. If they want people to comply with getting tested at the first hint of a symptom then the system needs to work better.

Was it a text or an email OP? Still waiting for mine

My dd was done 11am Friday and had results via email just over 12 hours later, then a text at 6am the next day. Negative and in the north of England
