How long for covid test centre results

I'm feeling so impatient. DC and myself tested this morning. Expecting negatives but just want confirmed.

Also have other people managed to get valid results from their toddler? I tried my best but no way was that swab in his throat for 10-15 secs. Dreading an 'invalid result'

I haven't had to have a test yet (touch wood) but I do know from the 135464463 other threads asking the same question that the answer is between 12 hours and never.

Hope that helps Grin

Same here DS tested today due to temp but am very impatient. Could really have done with being in the office today.

We have just been through the test process with a 3 year old. We all had the tests and my DH and my tests were both negative (result received in 22 hours), my DD came back ‘Unclear’ in 34 hours. Straight back to test centre and took a further 37 hours to get a negative result for her. It was a stressful wait and I despite the 24-48 hours they advise I honestly thought it would be a lot quicker than it was.
Swabbing a 3 year old isn’t fun; they told us to just swab her nose and not try tonsils...
Family members have had tests back in under 12 hours so it’s absolutely possible to get a quick turnaround.

My dd's we're back in 24 hrs both on email and text. She's 1 - I no way managed a 10 sec swab but it must be foolproof enough to let the random public do it unsupported in their cars...

Fingers crossed for you.

Had a test for ds (7) last week took 22 hours (overnight) but I know the early morning ones round here come back same day.
He tolerated it well and I definitely didn’t manage to swap for the full 10-15 seconds. Fortunately it came back negative anyway.

Mine took just short of 24hrs to come back (negative)

DS is nearly 3 - temp on Tuesday night, booked in for a drive through test on Wednesday at 11am - straight in and out and had the negative result back at midnight.

I had 4 last week (combination of problems inc some Unclear, I wouldn't call the tests foolproof!) and 3 results came in 25-26 hrs, 1 in 18 hrs. Involved weekends too.

Ours take 48 hrs.Our local hospital only has facilities for a limited amount of quick tests. The rest go to a major lab 60 miles away.Even patient swabs at then hospital take that long.

@Jade308 hope you hear soon and it's a negative of course. It's very frustrating waiting.
