Warm but not a fever - would you go to the dentist today if I were you?

Full disclosure: I am going to tell the dentist's office about this. But my husband said he wouldn't. WWYD?

Last night I was feeling a bit cruddy with body aches. These aren't new to me, sometimes I get them around the time of my period and my period was finishing up yesterday. I also felt really tired - but I was on my period.

I took a nice hot shower to help with the body aches, and put on a furry dressing gown. I noticed I was feeling flushed, so I took my temperature (in-ear) and it was 37.7. Took off the fluffy dressing gown and it went down to 37.4. In the middle of the night when I went for a wee it was 37.7 and now it's 37.4 again.

Body aches are gone. Still feeling flushed but I suffer from health anxiety and that can be a symptom for me.

Would you go to the dentist today? (Part of a filling fell out and I've been waiting weeks for this appointment.)

No I wouldn't. It's just not fair in case it is cv. It probably isn't but I'm sure the dentist would appreciate you cancelling x

I would stay at home and rebook for 2 weeks time. Just to be on the safe side

They may take your temp when you arrive.
Why on earth would you risk putting an entire dental team at risk?

Dentists are at risk from the unavoidable aerosol that is created during treatment. If it's not causing pain, maybe re-book.

As an aside I thought 38° was considered a temp?

I went to A+E with my DD yesterday as she was in pain- tummy, with a temperature of 39°.
When we got there at the entrance ( 2 separate) I explained DD had a temp etc ( 38.5 outside in the car) and 111 had asked we bring her in.
The man on the door took her temp- his said 36.7 (forehead) The other nurse who took her temp got 37.5 ( ear probe)
I really don't know how accurate these thermometers are.(or yours is) Our is the Braun 7 ear probe ( supposed to be accurate.
If you feel ok then go. They will decide by their thermometer if you are going to be seen.

Well, I've called and they've rebooked to see me in a week as long as I'm feeling better. No cancellation fees were mentioned.

I don't know how exact the ear thermometers are either (ours is a Braun), but it's above normal for me and I still feel flushed.

I think you’ve done the right thing. I did the same for midwife visit With borderline temperature , it turned out I was fine (milk coming in cause temp I think) but it wasn’t an issue postponing. I’m sure they won’t charge you as they don’t want to encourage people turning up with temperatures!

I would get a test as well, you will have the results back way before your appointment and it will give you peace of mind

Braun ear thermometers are pretty accurate.
For Covid19, they say a temp is above 37.8.

@NightmareLoon you've definitely done the right thing.

Based on what you've said you almost certainly don't have it, but there's still the chance that you could have passed it on to the dentist, who might in turn potentially have infected other patients. By inconveniencing yourself, you've removed all potential risk to others.
