Covid

Do people actually think Covid isn't real?

I am seeing stuff on social media from people who genuinely think that Covid isn't real. And that because we have had empty beds in the UK that it wasn't real. This amongst other reasons. Just because they don't know anyone who has had it. I just can't believe that people would believe that?!

Only idiots. Mostly Trump supporting Americans I find!

I do think there’s a fair whack of people who don’t think it’s ‘that bad’. Those people acknowledge its real but don’t think we should lockdown over a virus that isn’t really killing people under 60. You def see an awful lot of those people on Twitter!

Of course, I know loads of people that think it’s not real

My dad thinks it's nothing. Despite talking to my ndn who is now on his 8th week of not being able to breathe properly. Ndn is only in his 30s.
Dad has been carrying on completely as he did before. Thing is it'll be people like that that won't get it, and people like me who've taken precautions that will - because of people like him visiting.

Of course there are people who think that, 100 days in that can't be a surprise can it?

Fell out with a friend a while ago who thinks it's all a hoax ("it's just been a bad flu season", but that's mostly an excuse to do what she wants and go to parties every week.

My DB doesn't think it's real but hes very much a conspiracy theorist person. I know people who think its not as bad as what's being portrayed in the media and the lockdown and restrictions are over the top for what is essentially a bad cold for most. I also know people who have real covid fear and think they will instantly die the moment they step outside the front door.

There has been no second wave therefore it's not real

Dp's mother didn't for a while , she genuinely asked my opinion (I wouldn't have got involved otherwise ) so I sent her reliable sources if information.

Now she is convinced the vaccines are an elaborate form if governmental control. Still ...at least she admits covid is real...so yay.

If you do not experience things personally for yourself, then it is difficult to visualise something beyond your realm of comprehension.

There are also people who are convinced they are going to die the second they leave the house. I hope you will mock them in equal measure.

My mum. She believes this is one of the things that will bring about new world order.

Yep sadly it’s true. I am soon to be breaking up with someone who doesn’t believe it’s true as he doesn’t know anyone whose personally died

I think a lot of people don’t think it’s that bad.
If they don’t know anyone who has had the virus then it can’t be ‘that bad’
The particular person I’m thinking of is also an anti vaxxer I wonder if the two strains of thought are connected.

I think a lot of people cant really get their head around it .The speed of it taking hold ,shops/schools shut and so on .There are many wild conspiracies doing the rounds ,world population needing to decrease .Vaccines for controlling people and so on .The facts that people are ill/dying seems to have escaped their notice somehow!

The way people were behaving in Tesco today I'm absolutely certain of it.

Someone I know died of covid. He wasn’t old and had young teenage dc. A friend of mine who doesn’t believe in covid tried to convince me that he must have died from something else.
It’s just ridiculous.

My friend at work thought it was no big deal at first. When it first started I was a wreck because I was heavily pregnant and terrified. She kept telling me I was mentally ill and needed anti depressants. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I shared a light hearted Meme on facebook (something along the lines of a bbc bulletin of after the break we talk to leading viralogist karen from facebook) and she blocked me. Apparently the situation is not a laughing matter and I can't share stuff like that because I am safe at home on maternity and she is risking her life at work. So some people can go from one extreme to the other...

Our other work friend shares memes every 30 seconds. She us allowed though as she is working..

Yes, someone on my Facebook has shared some batshit stuff about 5G (which had a Facebook warning over the top about incorrect facts), and another post about CV only existing on the news and in peoples' imaginations.... so tempted to unfriend or unfollow her, but I want to see what she comes up with next.

@TerrapinStation actually it is a surprise. I could maybe, slightly, understand it in the early days but it is the fact that we ARE 100 days in that surprises me more that people think it is fake. Shocking really.
