Covid

I thought there was an app to track you for covid?

I can't find it on the App Store
Isn't there some sort of app that tracks where you've been and alerts you if you've come into contact with anyone with covid?
I've downloaded that Zoe thing so I can fill it out if I feel unwell
Haven't even been in shops for a few weeks but I'm worried about the second wave

That would be the world beating track and trace app that the Government promised would be up and running in June!

The one Don’s mate has been paid millions for.

They lied, it failed , they are Incompetent!

Oh how frustrating

I would have liked the app available if they are reducing lock down

I've just watched the clip about the second wave on channel 4 with the WHO covid specialist

I don't know why things need to be explained so simply to people about how their behaviour affects others

My friend is in the states and they have had a huge problem with second waves

I live by the beach but feel like I can't go down there because it's so busy at the moment. I don't mind sharing it's all public I know that but I've been having to drive to the woods for walks because it's so bad here

The country I live in launched it last week. Presumably it can’t be too long now - in extremism they’ll just rip off other successful ones from other countries!

What a shame there isn’t an EU-wide one (or that we wouldn’t get more than a few months use out of it if there were)

For most people, the app serves no purpose as they won't have been in contact with anyone close/long enough to trigger an alert anyway.

Unless you use public transport and can't socially distance, where are you going to be closer than 2 m from someone outside your household for more than 15 minutes? This could happen at work, but in that case, you should have PPE and there will be non-app reporting/tracing mechanisms too.

Just stay away from crowded places and if you need to use public transport, make sure you're not close to anyone else and your risk is just about zero. Plus handwashing or sanitising as recommended. No app required.

@BarbaraofSeville I disagree with this as I have heard of people getting it with less then 15 minutes contact
It is helpful to have the app
I don't work anywhere except at home

But the app will only be alerting if you have been in contact over 15 minutes so won't alert for people in contact for less time than that.

But that's how the app was going to work. It has to work on reasonable parameters or else you'd get many many false alerts, eg you walked past someone in a shop who turned out to have the virus, but unless they coughed as you were close to them, you're very unlikely to catch it.

People aren't going to sign up to an app where every alert potentially costs them money if they can't go to work until they've been tested, or otherwise restricts their lifestyle but 9/10 alerts are false alarms.

It's all very well taking a precautionary approach, but you have to consider the consequences if the app is unreasonably restrictive. People just won't use it.

These are not second waves. This is still the first wave for the USA.

Yeah, some states haven't finished their 1st wave never mind their 2nd wave

But those people won’t be altered. It will only alert you if you have been within 2m of someone for 15 mins or more.
Which for me (and many I assume!) is no one except my household for the past 3 months.

Saint Boris promised a world class track and trace system. He also said that we could turn the virus around in twelve weeks.

Oh wait, when politicians make promises or pledges...
