Covid

Thinking of booking a holiday!

So I was all decided that we wouldn't go away this year...but I'm tempted for the October half term.

Crazy idea? And would you go to Cyprus or the Canary islands last week in October?

Pondering tonight! Am I crazy?

And would you go to Cyprus or the Canary islands last week in October?

Neither destination would be my particular choice, but if you're asking if I'd travel in October if possible? Definitely yes!

No your not crazy. I am hoping to go somewhere at the end of August.

Might be difficult to get into Cyprus though, my mum wants to go to her second home but very difficult to get in with an expensive quarantine.

Definitely not crazy, we’ll definitely try and get away before the end of the year.

We are booked for end of July and after a lot of deliberations I think we will be going, it's too much money to loose so if they don't cancel us then we are off! I love Cyprus 😍

I’ve got booked August spain (I’m Spanish ) and November Japan and December Spain again.

Yes I’m crazy as well cuz I can’t wait to get on the plane.

Make sure you’ve an insurance that covers corona and/ or the European health card.

Don’t spread the virus.
The virus is already spread.

I’m from a city in Spain. The chances of catching the virus are higher over there than here. They actually have a new spread. If you make sure you implement social distancing and follow the rules then spreading the virus (that it’s quite likely you won’t have) is quite difficult

What travel insurance will cover you?
What if you were to get ill while you’re out there?

The second wave seems to be kicking off in several countries. There is no way I am risking anything by getting on an aeroplane.

  1. Yes, it’s a Crazy idea
  2. Depends what you want out of your Cyprus holiday. Cyprus at the end of October can be a wash out. It’s not an all year round summery destination as some people think.

@NewIdeasToday There are travel insurance that will cover you for covid. If you get ill then that’s when you use it. Cyprus has also said that they’ll pay for any treatment if someone falls ill when visiting them (not sure this has changed but they announced it a few weeks ago )

And as mentioned European health card is still valid until end of the year so If you felt ill then you could get treated

I’m keen to go somewhere October half term but the lack of guaranteed sun in a lot of places is putting me off. I imagine we might end up booking something last minute

No, you are not crazy! Just get travel insurance...

I wouldn't know how to choose, honestly!

We have a holiday booked at the end of September to Portugal. Assuming that the flight is operating and we are allowed to travel at the point we should be going. I admit that I am a little apprehensive but we are planning to wear masks as we travel and I will try to stay outside seating as much as possible. We are self catering.

If we hadn't already booked it I don't think I would be booking it now, mainly due to the journey

We've just booked a summer UK holiday we are looking forward to.

We’ve just booked a U.K. summer holiday. Am now wide awake with the anxiety of it, mainly due to having to cancel and lose the money if one of us is contacted by track and trace and being unable to go.

But it’s a risk we need to take really as a family as otherwise we won’t get a holiday until next summer due to work and we are do desperate to get away for a bit.

I currently have a week in Portugal booked for end of September and a trip to Barcelona booked for end of October. Both booked before lockdown.

It astounds me that people are incapable of going ONE year without an overseas holiday when they will be risking spreading COVID from one of the highest transmission countries in the world. So bloody selfish.

We live in Australia, so a bit different...but we missed a holiday at Easter due to Covid, and I've just booked flights for the October holiday. We're in south Australia, and I've booked flights to Sydney, planning on driving a couple of hours outside the city for quiet family beach time. Going to hold off booking everything else for a couple of months though to see what happens so we're not too much out of pocket in case it can't go ahead. I think as long we're sensible, all will be fine. We'll have a 3 month old, so not exactly planning a crazy party holiday!

So interesting to see people's perspectives. Personally, I don't get why anyone would take the risk, to themselves or others in the host country, unless it is a trip 'home' to visit loved ones. Unless you're envisaging a Zen-style retreat, many of the activities we generally associate with being on holiday will invariably create an element of risk of spread or exposure. Imagine being in a situation where you're requiring medical care, or even a check-up or a test, being an unnecessary drain on another country's resources. Embarrassing and selfish.
I've just cancelled our end of August trip to visit family in Sweden. Sweden is rife with covid though, surprise surprise. So much could go wrong, and if for any reason we were required to isolate on return, we'd not be able to get straight back to work as planned. I'd also hate it if people we came into contact with felt uneasy on account of us having travelled.

Tenerife and Gran Canaria are lovely that time of year.
I have a November holiday booked before all this to New Zealand, hoping my travel agent will let me change location as they won't be letting us in, I'm thinking portugal if i can change.

Just realise you will not be insured except for basic medical cover...no cancellation or accommodation costs if you get infected and have to remain. Hence why we are going this year on our ore booked one but won't next year as we can't get insured.
