So I understand that pub's will be open on the 4th July.
But are you allowed to go with other people not from your house hold but will have to social distance?
I'm just trying to work out how it's going to well work out?

I don't see why not.

But I can't imagine much social distancing in pubs

With any friends or family not from your household you'll have to keep the same distance as you would from strangers.

Hardly going to make for a nice sociable drink, having to yell at your friends from at least a metre away.

Really not sure how pubs are going to function under these rules.

Also, everyone coming in is going having to provide contact details. Don't know how well that's going to go down either.

@PigsDOfly Thats exactly what I was thinking, not just that but how are pubs supposed to manage drunk peoples behavior's especially towards social distancing?

@Castie107 Frankly, they won't manage drunk people without a lot of difficulty - I'm talking as someone who has a family member who manages a pub.

Trying to reason with a drunk person while keeping SD isn't going to be possible.

There was talk of limiting how many drinks a pub can serve any one person, but that's not going to stop people going from pub to pub and getting gradually drunker at each pub.

I think the idea is that everyone will sit nicely at their tables while the staff bring their drinks.

Good luck with that one.

1m is about an arms length away, you'll hardly be shouting at people from a vast distance.

The rules regarding who can meet up were explained in the same briefing about pubs re-opening.

6 people - as many different households as you like
Or
2 households - as many people as live in those 2 households.

You don't have to bubble so can meet with 1 household on 4th July and a different household on 5th July.

You need to social distance between households, that should be 2 mts where possible, where not possible it should be at least 1 mtr with additional mitigation such as face covering, face shield, Perspex screen, of facing each other, apparently there are 39 mitigation's which will be in the guidance.

Overarching guidance though was that these are things you CAN do, not necessarily SHOULD do, so we should all still try to keep our distance, be careful and do what we can to avoid transmission.

@TorysSuchRevokeArticle50 You must have very long arms, is all I can say Grin

In a noisy, crowded pub a metre is quite a distance when you're trying to hear a conversation over everyone else. Although, having said that, I suppose they won't be crowded because of the distancing.

We won't really know how it'll work till it's up and running. Hopefully it will.

So many pub were closing before Covid19 came along. Just hope it doesn't see the rest of them off.
