My friend works in a small building with around 8 people and one of the staff has tested positive for covid. Her boss has not informed her. Does she need to get tested?
They social distance where possible but share toilets and kitchen areas.

Yes and self isolate until results come back I believe.

Quarantine for 14 days if she has been within 2 metres. Test only if she has symptoms as she will have to do the 14 days regardless.

Shouldn’t the track & trace system kick in here? If she has a positive test, everyone that has been in direct contact should be told to isolate for 14 days regardless of what her boss does/doesn’t do.

If she has been in close proximity to the person or handling the same objects, she needs to isolate for 14 days. As do all other exposed co-workers.

Yes, they all need to isolate for 14 days I believe.
I have a question though, with shopping centres opening, theme parks and so on. With everyone sharing toilets. How will people be tracked in that case?

I wouldn't bother. The track and trace targets those who are inside 2m for 15 minutes or more. And the 2m is about to be dropped anyway. If she hasn't been told by track and trace or her boss then she doesn't need to. Nothing stopping her if she wants to, but there's requirement.

You are unlikely to be in close contact with someone in a shopping centre for more than 15 minutes (unless they are someone you know, in which case they can be tracked).

Given my experience in Tesco, Lidl and sports direct today I would dispute that statement
