Barber complaining about footballers' suspiciously professional hair cuts.

If he says they look professional then I suppose he knows, but I don't think men's hair is all that difficult and the wives/girlfriends have had weeks to practise. We bought clippers and comb attachments and admittedly the first go on DH was a bit ropey but the second time I tried it came out pretty well. He does a lot of work Zoom calls and some people thought he'd managed to get a professional cut (although to be fair they might have been looking at him in a very small portion of their screens). There are lots of YouTube videos and a fade (which is what a lot of the footballers seem to have) is actually very straightforward.

I'm not even very nimble fingered or artistic and make a bit of a mess of doing my own make up, so I imagine that footballers' other halves who are usually very into personal grooming would be naturally pretty good at doing hair.

I think you're pretty naive Grin

It's clear loads of them have had professional cuts Smile

My neighbour has had a mobile hairdresser at least twice during lockdown.

Ha! Anyone can give a temporarily clean cut with clippers, it just takes and steady nerves.

But a cut that maintains it's shape without continued clipping? That needs a professional.

My guess would be diy cuts and additional product to look good for the match!

We thought this when we watched the football the other night , the ones with short cuts were very well groomed !

Aren't half of them married to hairdressers? Or have things moved on since the 80s?

I can confirm there are plenty that are getting professional cuts. I think they feel because they are having Covid tests every 2/3 days they're immune 🤷🏻‍♀️

Of course they are getting their hair cut professionally. And all the other famous people are getting their hair done, Botox, lips etc etc

Social distancing doesn't apply to rich entitled folk

Of course they're off having professional haircuts! There's also lots of them out having parties, drink and drug driving and crashing their cars. Then claiming to be too scared to go back to work for their millions while the groundstaff get furloughed.

I thought it was well known that some hairdressers are operating under the radar. They're not the only ones, either.

Well, I've been astounded at how easy it is to use a pair of clippers. (I did study a lot of YouTube videos though) I think DH is fed up of me saying I could have been a barber. Grin

I do know of one barber who is operating under the radar and charging double the usual rate.

Absolutely hilarious that you think they've been letting their partners loose with clippers. Of course they will have been paying for their barbers to come round

There was an article in the guardian last week about underground hairdressers. It's happening.

I mean a footballer could literally offer a barber 1000s. No barber is gonna turn that down at this time

They are definitely professional cuts. It's one thing using clippers but to get that kind of a finish you need to know what you are doing. They all got themselves tidied up professionally before going back on TV. Many footballers showed the rules didn't apply to them during lockdown anyway.

I don’t really get why there’s an article solely about footballers; when many TV/News presenters have been looking very well groomed for weeks now; and Politicians are looking smart as well.

My PIL came round last week. They were amazed at our hair. DH did the DCs, I did his. He helped me do a Brazilian blow dry on my hair and I cut off an inch of my hair myself. We look no different to normal. You really can do it if you buy some decent clippers and scissors.

There is someone I follow on Instagram, her hair has been looking really sharp and wonderful recently.

Maybe she's born with it...

Dyrne because the media is ALWAYS coming for footballers. It's so tiring! And predictable.

Given that a number of footballers have had no qualms about hiring prostitutes during lockdown...

A lot of high profile people have been looking immaculate, including the Royal Family, politicians and various other big names. It is so obviously the work of a professional. As several people have said on this thread the rules don’t apply to the privileged. And don’t even start me on the Macron visit......What about the 14 day quarantine requirement?

This whole thing is an absolute circus and a total embarrassment.

I was watching the football today and every single man on the pitch including the ref and assistants had non-lock down hair. I immediately said they are all going to the barbers. Though I suspect each club has one main barber each.

My husbands been cutting his hair from the start although it’s short to start with
He’s pretty good at it and isn’t going to bother going back to the barbers when they reopen

I do my own hair nails eyelashes but you would think I’ve been to salon but I’ve not I’ve just got pretty good at doing my own
