Just announced- UK alert level lowered to three. So potentially "gradual relaxation of restrictions"....

Hmm. Paving the way for a pubs/restaurants and 1m announcement?

Meanwhile in Scotland we are still pretty much on full lockdown (well that’s how it feels) 😒

Can you link to where you got this information? I didn't think the scientists were anywhere near approving this.

If we have met the requirements, then great. I do hope we have.

I'm worried they'll want us back in the office now. I hated working from home at the beginning but I can't think of anything worse than having to sit in the office in a mask.

This is good news.

But it's concerning that test/track/trace, which we need to be secure at the lower levels , still seems to be work in progress rather than fully in place and working well.

What happened to the road map? Everything seems to change in accordance with public opinion rather than the science or the government fit the science to public opinion and demands.
If the threat level is 3 then can schools go back? Is shielding unnecessary now? Is everyone going back to work?

No @Bercows - read the info! Stage 3 means the virus is in general circulation (but not out of control) & we can start to move forwards with opening non essential services, hospitality etc but with social distancing & precautions such as working from home if possible, no large gatherings etc ..

The move down a level was recommended by the chief scientists. Not the government.

Bol87 · 19/06/2020 16:19

And shielding is def still necessary! The virus is still in general circulation. Just yesterday there was a local outbreak in the town next to mine! But it was quickly identified, tracked & traced. It’s been handled really well so far!

Good news but it can go up again as well as down (and probably will).

Could someone tell Nicola Sturgeon please before the Scottish economy completely tanks?

Report
SistemaAddict · 19/06/2020 16:21

Hmm
Pretty sure we've been operating at level 3 for a few weeks despite saying that we weren't there yet. I'd rather see any effects of schools being partially back and increased socialising evaluates first. Not that it affects me with being shielded anyway. I have lost all faith on the management of thus pandemic.

Egghead68 · 19/06/2020 16:23

Agree @Bercows (also shielding but expecting announcement of end of that imminently).

What happened to the road map?

I think we’re now on the part of the roadmap where schools can now start opening to R, yr1 and yr 6 with limits on class sizes, additional hygiene measures and social distancing. I think that’s what they said back in May?

ineedaholidaynow · 19/06/2020 16:37

I think we have been operating at level 3 before now

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay English primary schools were allowed to do this from 1st June so restrictions were eased ahead of the threat level being lowered.

Great. Schools first I hope.

I’m not sure the tone came across properly in that post. Grin

I know when the schools went back. But we were told that wouldn’t happen until we were at level 3 and then they went back anyway. The whole thing has now become utterly meaningless in terms of whatever it was supposed to mean in the first place.

Didn't it used to be women and children first as in to get in the lifeboats rather than to go over the top.

What does it mean in terms of easing restrictions? Was it some forms of hospitality opening in july?
