Masks and gloves what to do and not what to do

A lot of people are wearing gloves and masks but because of ppe)my job I know how to don and doff ppe (take on and off)
I just want to pass on some of our training as I walk about and see so many people doing things wrong, but I know they are trying and I only want to help, educate, not be a twat.
Surgical masks type, the blue/green goes on the outside, the wire pressed around the nose.
To take it off, turn head, bin, one time use, wash hands.
Washables wash every time after being out. Taking off the same as a disposable.
Do not touch the mask after touching anything else in a public space, transfer, up and down, up an down, on the chin, nose out. Transfer could happen to the mask. The nose breathes in.
Once the mask is on the best way is no contact with it until taken off safely.

Gloves limited action,Covid is not absorbed, eg put gloves on limited actions with the gloves, eg gloves on on entering shop, discarding safety after leaving
Seen a lot of people shopping with gloves on then still leaving with mask and gloves on
Gloves and masks should be for very short periods of time then either discarded safely if disposable or washed

Can anyone explain why I see people driving with masks and gloves? Totally useless I'd have thought.

I literally saw someone today put the mask around her neck so slid down. Pulled one glove off with her teeth, as in teeth touching the finger part. And then got her phone out pocket with the remaining gloves hand and then swapped into the other hand to make a call.
I also see. Many without it around their noses.

I have a re usable mask for shops which gets washed everytime. I don't wear gloves as I sanitise on entry and exit. When I put bags in car and get in I then re do my hands and anti back wipe my steering wheel and gear stick.. I don't know why exactly I do this. Then as soon as home and unpacked I re wash hands. I hope I do it all correctly.

I also always open my door handles holding an anti bac wipe because our neighbours cctv showed some teens splitting on door handles at the beginning of the pandemic and now it's always on my mind.

Gloves are one action only.
You can’t go from a house to a shop to a house
That is what some people are doing
Some people are discarding their gloves in the car park

Didsherally
I don’t wear gloves either sanitiser and hand washing a lot
I wear gloves because I naturally touch my face and it was a way not to

My elderly father lives somewhere with compulsory mask wearing order, but he finds it hard to breathe in mask, especially if he's walking briskly. So he pulls them mask up and down a lot. I think he pulls it up if others are within 30' or so. Overwhelmingly he keeps 6 feet away which is actually the effective action.

I find my mask uncomfortable to wear. But mainly my glasses steaming up constantly is the issue.

i wondered about people driving wearing a mask but then thought perhaps they were sharing a car? Giving someone a lift.

Can anyone explain why I see people driving with masks and gloves? Totally useless I'd have thought. Because other advice has said that you need to wash your hands before putting on the mask, and therefore you need to put it on before you leave home, not when you arrive at your destination in the car.

I'm finding it hard to marry the two bits of advice: 1) masks are to protect other people from you, not to protect you 2) you mustn't touch the mask as you take it off because it'll be full of Covid. Surely if 1) is true, then the Covid on your mask has come from you in the first place?

Every time I see a photo of group of people someone will have their mask below their nose...

I only wear my surgical masks for 15 mins at a time. On before I enter the shop and off after getting home and washing my hands. I put it in quarantine for a couple of weeks or more before using again. I think that's fine. Would you say not?

You’re not supposed to touch masks once they’re on, and maybe they’re going somewhere they need one. Eg I had blood tests done and had to wait in the car in a mask until I was called.

Can you not sanitise your hands outside the shop before putting the mask on?

Exactly. This is the reason I can be seen apparently out walking with a mask on, because I am on my way to the supermarket and have put the mask on at home after washing my hands.

You could do I guess if you felt it was easy and practical do do so. I prefer to do so at home because:
  • hand washing with soap and water is more effective than sanitiser
  • I need to take my glasses off before I put my mask on - I can't do that standing outside the shop as there is nowhere to put them down
  • I like to look in a mirror when I put the mask on so I can see it is high enough up on my nose

I don’t understand why if masks are not mandatory people chose go to the effort of using a mask then do the following - chin/neck hammock, mouth covered only, mask pushed up onto the bridge of the nose to smoke/drink/eat/answer the phone/chat, mask pulled down to speak to people then replaced, surgical mask worn with top strings only tied, paper mask worn in the rain, ‘crafty’ face coverings e.g a j-cloth & a couple of hair bands, dust masks as hats. At first I thought it was ironic or fashion but now I think it’s a mental health/IQ problem. This was all from one shopping trip this morning btw.

What I meant by up and down
Is that you may touch stuff then transferring it to the mask then repeating transferring
Don't to pull it up take it down after touching things

Makes sense with the driving. I wash my hands before leaving, wipe down the car regularly, and hand sanitiser before putting the mask on in the car. But I can see why someone would choose not to. A nurse told me they are only effective for about 20 minutes until they get damp so I was following that advice.

Sanitiser only works for 5 times until you need properly wash your hands
