Had anyone been to a hospital ward recentley? How was it?

In what respect? I work on wards most days and go to lots of them. They are like they always are - full of staff and patients tripping over each other, lots of sick people and we all have to wear masks all the time.

In terms of ppe and how many people are attending now?

I visited my father when he was dying. It seemed quiet to me - all staff in full ppe but I only had to wear a mask. He wasn't on a Covid ward though although he had had it and it was listed as one of his causes of death.

When my brother visited my mother a month earlier, she was on a Covid ward and he had to wear gloves, mask and an apron I think. Covid was her only cause of death.

I thought most hospitals were not allowing visitors? At least that was what was happening at our local hospital when I had to go with DS (suspected Covid).

We were in a sectioned off part of the children's ward so didn't see anyone on the ward other than staff in full PPE when DS needed tests etc.

When we had to go to a different department we saw very few people in the corridors - just a few members of staff or people going for Xrays etc. The staff that went with us were in PPE, DS and I were just given masks.

I go up to the wards occasionally to review diabetic foot ulcers. Its as busy as ever, loads of people everywhere, hardly any visitors and all of us are in PPE.

How many people are attending? It's not an event surely with a no visitor policy the wards will only have the essential staff present?

Yes, the only people attending are those that need to be there. No visitors unless imminently EOL.

I work on a ward. We wear masks at all times but patients don’t unless they’re going off ward for a test. No visitors allowed unless the patient is at the end of their life but we do FaceTime family. There’s about the same amount of people as ever because people are still getting ill from non Covid conditions. Full PPE is available and used if we are doing something that could cause the patient to cough etc. Every patient is tested for Covid every 5 days.

Our Covid bed base has just been declared free of C19. We are allowing max of 3 visitors in at a time for a max of 30 mins. Must maintain social distancing and must wear PPE. It's been wonderful to see patient reactions to seeing loved ones for the first time in ages.
