October half term

Would I be crazy to book a UK break for October half term? It's fully refundable up to one month before the trip. I guess the only risk is the company going bust?

I'm very tempted, we could all do with something to look forward to.

I have been thinking the same, looking at October and even November Blush

Pay by credit card then you are still covered if the company goes bust.

Good idea to pay on a credit card, thanks

The other risk is we are back to square one by then but we can’t think about that currently. I’d book it on CC and keep fingers crossed. UK holidays in Oct don’t interest me particularly as it’s way too cold for me.

We've booked a tots' break at Butlins for the beginning of October. I think Skegness is about as far as we can hope to go this year!

Hoping it will go ahead but can rebook for another time if there's another lockdown.

In Wales so our half term has been extended by a week so thinking of something too. Hopefully one of the two weeks will be cheaper as only Wales will be off!

We moved our booked Easter holiday to October half term, so I am really hoping it will be allowed by then. It is only 1.5 hours drive away from home, so we wouldn’t need to stop on the drive or anything. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have just booked bluestone for the week. Really hoping it will all be open but happy just to go for a change of scenery.

We have Bluestone booked in July, if it doesn't go ahead we will move it to October half term.

Thanks all, I have booked it, it's a long weekend at butlins. We went a year ago and the kids absolutely loved it, so I really hope that it happens for their sakes. If not they will give a refund, and I paid the deposit on credit card as suggested.

I wasn't going to tell the kids but they overheard me on the phone. Dd wants to start packing, even though its 5 months away Grin

That’s actually not a bad idea, we were booked to go camping at a park dean site in Aug. It is in Wales and I have a feeling that none of the facilities will be open. My worry is I’ll be trapped on a field watching a whole load of other families get drunk as there’s nothing to do!

How likely do people think it is that swimming pools will be open by Oct? I’d be tempted to do a Haven, Butlins or Centre parks. (Park dean have behaved appalling during lockdown to their caravan owners so that’s put me off them a bit)
