Holidays with friends and family

What are people’s thoughts on holidays this summer where households will be mixed? I’m sure many people would be holidaying with friends and family this summer but would this be allowed do you think? We are booked for a cottage by the coast towards the end of July, in our own county, with DS’s girlfriend and her family but obviously this would mean mixing households?

I'm hoping we'll find out soon. We have a villa booked in July in Europe for us and 2 other families. We're all happy to go but would like to know if we can travel and if we can mix households.

As long as you’re allowed to travel to the destination, then I don’t see how they can say no. If you’re allowed to travel to Europe on the plane together, then why wouldn’t you be able to share a villa together?? It wouldn’t make sense.
We also have a holiday booked with DDs boyfriend - it’ll probably be cancelled as it’s BA from Gatwick. If it is, I have every intention of trying to find an alternative (probably cottage in uk).

You realise that you may well be required to go into quarantine for 14 days when you get back?

Given that OP is going in her own county, quarantine is unlikely to be an issue...

We're the same - have booked a holiday with young adult kids and their partners. It's in France so looking unlikely, but I'd rebook somewhere in the UK if it was allowed.

But makes no sense to me that at present we can't have our children who don't live at home in the house with us, nor can the ones who do live at home see their partners. Yet we could apparently book a holiday in Portugal, fly on a plane with 200 people and all holiday together out there. Then quarantine in our various houses when we get back? It's surely safer to allow them to visit us here at home, coming by car.

Was responding to the poster who has a villa booked in Europe.

Yes, I'm aware that we would currently have to quarantine, however the country we are going to are in discussion to form an air bridge, so we can but hope.
