Bit anxious (understatement)

Can anyone share experiences of how the drive thru was? I forget things when anxious and scared I’ll do something wrong.

Also how long for results?

Thank you.

I got tested at Manchester airport.

Drive into the centre, follow the signs. There are guys holding up signs for what to do.

Show them your barcode from the email. They scan it through your window and tell you what lane to go in.

Person comes out, explains the test (swab up nose and back of throat). All done and drive off. I had my results in under 48 hours.

Tested in Eastbourne drive through. Arrived 15 mins early, expected to wait off to one side but waved through. Had to call the army lads (ours were lovely young men in desert camp!) on mobile rather than open window, they held up signs with the numbers. Given instructions, pack etc, had to stick labels on the packaging and swab containers. Waved over to another station, another mobile call, more instructions. Sent to park up and do swabm drive to the end station, another call and hand it over. Got my results the next day!

Doing the swab is horrible, practice with a cotton bud!

I was tested in Scotland yesterday. It's run like a military operation, very well organised and clear.
Instructions are included in the package they give you. My result came back "unclear" unfortunately so I've had to go back for another test this evening. This time DH suggested I took a tray to stop all the stuff slipping off my lap - a good idea. I was nervous too. Just take your time and read all the instructions slowly. The staff are very helpful. Good luck. Should get your results within a couple of days.

It’s very straight forward - no need to feel anxious. The drive through centre I went to was very efficient. A nurse came out to my car and did the swab.

The swab was absolutely fine, tickled the tonsils which was the worst part, as it made me gag a little but I barely noticed the nose swab. It certainly wasn’t like some of the diagrams I’ve seen. Not even slightly uncomfortable.

I had the test on a Saturday and a nurse rang me the following Monday morning to give me my positive result, my GP also rang me that evening to make sure I’d had my results and to check I was ok.

Try not to worry.. easier said than done I know.. it was absolutely fine in my experience.
Hope you’re feeling ok and not too poorly.

I should add that I had to administer my own test. That's why the tray was helpful - because there were several things to organise - hand gel, swab, test tube, etc.

Thanks so much everyone! Quick question if you don’t mind - did the test today, what now?? I wasn’t told how I’d get the results? Do they text me? They have my number from when I booked the appointment but realised I wasn’t given anything? Thanks

I wasn’t given anything either. I thought I’d get a text but a nurse rang and then my gp. I was given a slip of paper with a number to ring if I didn’t have my results within five days.

I got a phone call and ignored it as I didn't recognize the number. They left a voicemail and I had to call back for the my results.
