Rules re working away?

I have read the govt guidance and can't find anything relevant to the situation (might have missed it!)

So my DS works away and uses a mon-fri let. He hasn't been working as he was furloughed but has been advised work is opening back up so needs to get back. The place he stays in he has his own en suite room and doesn't mix with anyone, but they use the same kitchen (at different time slots) he also isn't working directly with anyone at his place of work, they all have their own section away from others. Therefore I would say he is low risk to us.

What is the situation regarding him coming back here at weekends? We are a low risk house also, all work from home.

The Tories have made the guidance deliberately vague so the economy can keep going and they can blame us if the R goes up.

Your son can travel and stay away for work. The scenario you describe sounds low risk so I would do it.

I wasn't sure if it would count as mixing households etc, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight regarding that situation.

forget the 'rules', the law in England states that a reasonable excuse to stay overnight at any place other than the place where they are living, includes:
for work purposes, or for the provision of voluntary or charitable services;

We’re in the same situation.

Dh usually works 3 days at home, 2 days in a city 200 miles away.

When he’s away he either stays one night at a travelogde or on my elderly dads sofa if we are particularly skint that month (which is usual).

The hotels aren’t taking bookings and we’re kind of reluctant for him to stay at my dads. Air band b near his work would be unaffordable even if we could find one.

His work has been closed since March so it’s not been an issue but he’s expecting to be called back in soon.

The coming and going worries me through as I’m pregnant. Especially if he’s going to be staying in hotels (he works for a local authority so can get a key worker letter for a hotel he’s just told me).

@Ifailed i guess I was thinking as he's spending 5 days a week at the rented place that might count as his main residence so he'd be coming home at weekends, even tho the other place is temporary.
