I have an autoimmune disease (well controlled) take immunesuppressors and was put on the vulnerable list, but been told by my nurse that I’m ‘moderate risk’ not high

I’ve got a hole in my tooth, very near the gum line. Causing no pain or sensitivity but I can clearly see it in the mirror so must be pretty big, feels very sharp.

Really in turmoil about whether I risk going to the dentist, being that close, drills spraying etc. Or do I just get a temporary filling kit and see if I can sort it myself for a month or so.

Obviously I don’t want to go, but I also don’t want it getting worse/infected etc

I would phone the dentist and ask their advice.

I don't think they're doing any drilling. I think they will only extract or cement it over. Ring them and try and get a repair kit yourself.

My dentist asked me to email over some pictures. They then rang me back with a vice.

Thanks all, feeling so worried about potentially having to go into a dentist surgery and be up close to someone for a period of timeSad

I broke my tooth yesterday and was seen by my dentist in the afternoon. I felt safer than a trip to the supermarket. The dentist was acting as receptionist, dentist and nurse, he was wearing full PPE and could only clean tooth with cotton swab and repaired it with filling material.
I can understand your concerns but leaving it you are risking an infection taking hold and i guess you are more at risk because of the medication you are taking.

Are dentists even open?

Thanks for the reassurance, so they can’t drill etc but can just clean and put filling on? I’ll give them a call in the morning and hopefully it can be put right ASAP

My dentist said they are restricted in what they can do, so he cleaned and sealed, i have a heart defect so although i was worried about going and picking up Covid i knew i needed it sorted. They have put me on alist to be called back at a later date to discuss what to do.

gamerchick my dentist is private, he did say NHS practices are closed.
