Chest re x-rayed after 6 weeks

I had covid19, was in hospital for 2 days from day 12 of my symptoms and in hospital I had a chest xray which showed the 'ground glass' signs and bilateral pneumonia
(I didn't need oxygen just clexane injections to reduce thrombosis/clotting risk and potassium due to diarrhoea)

Now I am recovered, back at work (NHS physio in the community in Scotland) and feeling well again, fatigue finally lifted at end of week 8, only remaining symptom is hot flushes (I am 48 though so could be a coincidence but I definitely didn't have them before covid)

At work we got an email and it mentioned radiology looking to do review chest xrays at 6 weeks on post confirmed covid pneumonia for patients. The results could help with covid research and learning as well as let patients and GPs know if there are any ongoing signs after that period.

I phoned my gp who was happy to request one for me and she phoned me on Friday after work to tell me the xray was clear, no residual consolidation or fluid, all signs had resolved.

I had thought for sure that there would be some damage to be seen. I am so relieved! thought I would let you know in case anyone else had the pneumonia and was concerned.

(Has anyone else had a review xray after 6 weeks? I did have to ask for mine)

That's brilliant news. What a relief for you and others reading this.

Incidentally, I had pneumonia a few years ago and still had consolidation four months post infection.

That’s great news, I’m very pleased for you cake

I think there’s a lot of attention starting to turn towards the longer term effects from covid-19 so it’s really nice to read something positive.
