Would it be cheeky to get our deckchairs out in an empty station car park?

Hoping to see DD 25 next week. So excited! It's a bit far really to do the journey there and back in a day. I know a rural station about half way with a car park that will be empty, would it be cheeky to get our deckchairs out for the day? Obviously we'd pay the parking charge.

Will DD be there?

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable plan op. Desperate times call for desperate measures Grin

Petrol station?

Police station?

Service station?

Fire station?

Railway station?

Do you mean you want to spend the day with her sitting in deck chairs in a train station car park?

A train station? Confused

Why not meet in a park half way ? But if it needs to be a train station, then yes go for it !

CAn't you find somewhere nicer to sit?

A train station! Re: weeing I've bought a Travel John!

The benefit of this station is that it's right next to the main road and easy to get to, I can't think of a park that's as easy and equidistant.

On another thread I was musing about whether she could camp in our garden overnight but that's not allowed.

Are you vulnerable or shielded? Are any of you key workers?

Seems a bit of a strange choice for me, wouldn't you prefer to go for a walk together? But I can't imagine the station would mind no.

If you mean her to get the train, then YABU.

I was wondering whether to visit my mum and sleep in her summer house (before the announcement today) but it was the loo that was the issue. Now they've said you can use the loo, but specifically said you can't sleep in a tent. I guess that excludes summer houses too :(

@cologne I think you're being very literal. I think the government are saying no tents so people don't go camping. If you're allowed in your mind garden you can sleep in it as well as be awake in it.

I met my friend at a garden centre yesterday. We bought the things we needed and then walked up the lane, then sat on the kerb in the fairly empty car park for a chat. At least 6 other sets of people were doing the same thing but most of them had brought deck chairs. So sounds fine to me!

Anyway, OP I've seen lots of deckchairs bout recently. A car park is an odd place but these are odd times.

@user3274826 no we are both driving.

@Bluntness100 no not vulnerable or shielded.

You want to socialise in a carpark??

There were people camped & sunbathing on beach today. Why not find somewhere like a green park with ponds & fountains & lawns at least, rather than a carpark?

Weird.

I assume that you’d be breaking some form of railway bylaws or going against the car park provider’s policies. Let’s be honest, staff would ask you to move on.

I wouldn’t count on it being quiet. Teenagers have turned my local station’s car park into a skating rink, others have been using the space to run/jog.

I'd do it.

You'll be outside, 2m away from each other, and paying the parking.

Couldn’t you both park next to each other and speak whilst sitting in your cars? With your doors open perhaps? I feel like it would be more innocuous this way

Honestly there must be somewhere nicer than a station car park, especially if you are both driving. Why not say a rough area and someone here might be able to suggest somewhere. You just need the postcode. Some parks even have takeaways available now.

Not cheeky, but there must be somewhere nicer. Have you checked the footpaths online - there might be a little hidden gem of a walk nearby for you to do, take a packed lunch and couple of picnic blankets?
