It will be interesting to see what Welsh Gov come out with tomorrow. I think if it is anything less than what England/Scotland have come up with today (in terms of being able to meet family) then it will all go to shit here and people will start doing what they want anyway (more so than they already are) 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't think there's anyone left here in Newport who isn't already doing whatever they want!

One long summer party here since VE day 🙄

Oh is there some announcement due?
I stopped watching the news. ...
Not even sure what we are supposed to do or not now. It's all as clear as mud

Apparently we can meet outside with another household, 2m, in LOCAL areas. Ffs. I am a labour supporter but Drakeford is such a drip. Local areas, that's so vague. Does it mean the immediate area, the county?! Who knows.

In North Wales, everyone is convinced we are still in dire circumstances because our diagnosed numbers are rising. But the terrible, terrible, North Wales Health Board only started testing properly recently. Deaths are not going up. Our local trash newspaper is stirring up the panic.

Here in North Wales, it will be hard to get anyone out of their house. Everyone is worried if they open the beaches we'll get flooded with day trippers from Liverpool and then all will go to hell in a hand basket.

I am desperate for some relaxing of rules. My kids need to see other kids.

Drakeford is a drip. I was a Plaid supporter and Indy Curious, but the glee they've shown about their Covid border has put me right off.

I am now Indy Negative.

Who knows....Probably nobody. I would just like to know when our local bus service will be back tbh.
Also ofc I should watch the specific Welsh news but I did get tired of putting on the TV and hearing all about 'england'

If they don't get on the same page tomorrow I think the whole thing will fall apart. I'm so angry with the Welsh government.

It feels like if Boris said 6 people they would say 5. At every step it's about trying to be seen to be different.

I thought it was today?

My daughter has been told by the university that I will be given a slot to collect her (I'm coming in from England) so maybe they know something we dont?

Apparently we hear tomorrow. The Welsh Government is driving me bonkers. They just have to Be seen to do something different to England, even if what England is doing makes sense. I have a dd in year 6 and need to know if she’s going back to school or not. By the way, I’m in Newport and sticking to the rules but I think Beyond and I are the only ones! Grin

The kids are all playing outside together anyway. It’s going to be a really long summer holiday at home.

You couldn't make this shizz up. The sooner we get on the same page the better.

(watto, I'm no angel myself. My whole household are shielding and the kids have visited their - also shielding - grandparents. Once, but it's technically a breach. Though given they've not been out for their daily exercise once, I could probably defend it in court Grin )

We are following the rules although most around us don't seem to be! Being able to meet up won't help us as we have no family nearby but I hope it happens for others. The thing I really want is to be able to drive for exercise, not far just 10-15 mins but we are in a city and I am desperate for a country walk.

Completely agree with all of this. Whatever you think of Sturgeon, she has come across as being on the front foot or alongside England in the approach. Wales, by continuing to announce different measures and later than others, come across as directionless.

Swansea had 5 confirmed positive cases in the last 24 hours. I'm not sure what I will do tomorrow if Welsh Gov's plan is different to Eng/Scot.

Great seeing Labour run the Welsh health service....good indication what a shit job they would do if they got their hands on the English one!!

In really interested to find out too. it'll def be less than England and probably even Scotland too. They are very cautious and saying barely anything. I've got a child in year 6 and was really hoping they'd go back briefly, just to end the primary phase.

Issue there Idris is that DS is 4 and I can't imagine meeting up with our friends who are the parents of his best friend and telling the two of them that they have to stay 2m apart. Don't really have any friends who we haven't met through DS' friends in this area as it's not where we grew up.

I wouldn't bother trying to extrapolate from Welsh politics. It is its own special mess (in a very pretty building). I can't explain why, but Welsh politics usually are profoundly stupid. The Tories aren't winning any awards for running a top notch health services so I don't wish for Boris. I wish for competence.

Absolutely, Sturgeon set everything out clearly a week before it was due to come into force. Good communication.

We have been sticking to the rules but in the last fortnight we have driven (literally less than 5 minutes) for exercise twice, for a change of scenery as DS 4 walking or on his scooter means our distance was really limited. And the local dog walking park where we go most has had rough sleepers recently so takes the fun out of it for the kids a bit when you're too scared to let them go on the grass.

I also drove 5 mins away to a friend's house to drop a card and cake off, as she had a baby 2 weeks ago.

People local to me haven't been sticking to it though, one of my neighbours has had a different person in her garden every day this week. I can understand if they're local and they're sat 2m apart, but they weren't, and one of them had brought a child to play with her child!

Oh I was really hoping we could talk about Wales without slagging off our neighbours for perceived lockdown breaches.

Report
BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 28/05/2020 18:08

I haven't mentioned minor breaches for weeks, destroyed. Since VE Day is just taking the piss though. I wouldn't be able to talk about it if they weren't doing it.

Thing is, if Drakeford et al come up with something different to Scotland/England then I think these 'breaches' are going to be happening all over Wales. If you want to be able to ask people to self isolate as part of track and trace, then I believe you have to give some freedom alongside that.

I just want to be able to go to our local beach (within walking distance) for a whole day. Trouble is I'm sure the rest of Swansea will be there too 😂

Just looked on Wales online. Apparently you STILL wont be able to travel away from your local area which means I cant see my family who live 30 mins away!!! Bloody ridiculous! My county as had 5 new cases THIS WEEK!! Thats all!

My elderly gran lives 25 miles away, she’s desperate for a visit apart from my brother who drop shopping off to her. I was hoping I could visit and sit outside with her but I’m not sure I’ll be allowed to drive the 25 miles. So frustrating. What difference will it make whether I’ve driven 5 or 25 miles?
