@rararararara indeed. DH and I will pop to DM over the weekend. Screw it, been law abiding for 10 weeks and she's on her own.

I'm confused, my neighbours have been doing this since March - and I'm talking about more than one street. What Boris is saying now is pretty much what our whole village has been doing since March. As long as they are outside or in the garden, they do as they like and friends and family come over. They don't do the 2 metres either; outside is safe as far as they are concerned.

I think a great many people have been doing this all along.

Sorry to be a downer, but I’m so disappointed with this. We don’t even have garden and my parents live 4 hours away Sad
I’m happy for those who can meet with families in gardens though.

You can walk through the house to "get to a garden"

Unless you're sheilding. Then you just have to watch the rest of the world go back to normal and be forgotten about. Never mind.

@DishingOutDone maybe so but a lot of people haven’t. This is for them.

The biggest transmission of the virus is between families, that is why they have to limit mixing households.

People who have already been doing it have been breaking the rules.

Our neighbours have been doing this for weeks. They even go into the house now and pass the new baby around everyone.our parents live 2 hours away and we couldn't trust our small children to stay away anyway, so doesnt affect us. I'm 2ondering if we're ever going to see them again. Sad

@Thewheelsonthebus23 same as us, we still can’t see family as it’s too far to travel there and back in a day, and would definitely need to use the house at least the toilet!!

It is good news but 6 is an awkward number. Lots of families still lot able to meet as the typical family is 4 in a household. At least in Scotland they can meet in groups of 8.

Nah - cue a rush of everyone who hasnt been out since March to run round to their friends. And good on them .
As PP said loads of people have been doing this since day 1 with no ill effects ( and yes I do know several households who have done this - loudly).

@RaspberryMctriple he did say they'd shortly be making more announcements about those shielding (about more support I think). You're not forgotten about, it must be so very hard. Thanks
