My gran is moving into a home.
The home won't take her without a negative test.
The rehab have said they won't do another test unless as it's too distressing
So what the hell we meant to do now.

Unfortunately, the technique employed by the test (PCR) is extremely sensitive. It can detect an amount of viral genetic material weighing less than a speck of dust. There will be a threshold where a test is not considered positive because a slight amount of the virus could trigger a marginally positive result but be well below a level that represents an infection (one with or without symptoms). Additionally, an issue with sample collection, transport or storage prior to testing could interfere with the testing procedure (RNA, which this virus uses in the same way we use DNA is more fragile).

I'm sorry that this doesn't provide a clear solution on its own but it seems like what could be considered a negative result can only be obtained with another test. In your position, I would ask rehab to liaise with the home to reach a solution.
