Does anyone know if parents decide not to send their year 6 students back next month will they still be entitled to FSM vouchers? I'm thinking as it's a choice not to send them then maybe not.

I don’t know - we’re not sending ours back as I’m shielding- and the advice is not to

Same here. Ds is in reception so gets universal free school meals but dd is year 7 and eldest is year 8 and can't go back anyway even though she really wants to.

Our local primary schools aren't opening as we have not met anywhere near all the tests. I haven't met a single parent that is unhappy about it. So they will ash still get their vouchers

I would think that it would stop tbh, I have a child in yr 1 he isn’t going back. I can’t see them still giving the vouchers if they are allowed back at school.

I work in a secondary school and am in charge of ordering the vouchers. We intend to keep sending them even if students are in school. We have been doing the same for the key worker and vulnerable students who are in school. We aren't opening up the canteen and students are being asked to bring a packed lunch, Free school meal students included (we have a range of emergency snacks in case the FSM kids don't have anything, but that's being provided by the staff).

Our secondary school is still sending vouchers as the catering isn't reopening

I also have a child in Yr6 who is returning to school. We have been asked to bring a packed lunch in every day, no school dinners available, so I think it's the same in Primaries near me (not on FSM, so don't know for sure).

Yes it’s in the government guidance that vouchers will continue.

Our school is only open for 2 days a week unless they are key wiener or vulnerable children so perhaps they will still give something. There's a lot of poverty in our country and some families really need those vouchers. I can't even spend the ones from the high school as they are only for asda and I don't usually do big shops there and can't get a delivery slot anyway. They did originally give a choice of Tesco or asda and I chose Tesco but they must have had a reason for choosing asda for everyone.

There will be no food provided by our school, so Id assume vouchers will continue for all? In the same way any key workers who would qualify for means tested free school meals have got vouchers until now, even tho the kids may be in school still.
